I drive at night without my glasses on many occasions. That is because I am familiar with the location where I drive at. I am nearsighted. If I travel to a new place, I need to wear corrective  lens in order to see the street names more clearly. After I got my new glasses last year, I wear them all the time whenever I’m out on the road day and night. Yes, you should really have your vision checked by an ophthalmologist for your personal safety.

I hate driving at night. I absolutely CANNOT see. I know I need my vision checked. Things are somewhat blurry. If there are no lights out to illuminate the road I really have to strain. But my biggest problem is my eyes are SO sensitive to light at night. Car headlights are the worst. If they're on-coming I have to look down to the right away from them in order to see the road. I flip my rear view mirror and adjust my side mirrors because the lights behind me are too bright. What's wrong with me and is there anything I can do? Anyone else deal with this? ???

yes, I have the same problem. I dont drive unless I have too. My husband told me about a type o coating they put on your prescription glasses. Now the lights dont really affect me. I am a happy camper.

I have a hard time seeing at night time these days. As we age our vision, especially for night time driving diminishes. But with glasses we can cope.

There are many things that cause us to have trouble seeing at night.   The way we see is by light focusing on our retina.  When it's dark, less light reaches your retina.  Your pupil dilates to allow more light in, but the light is dispersed and that affects your vision.    Several of the suggestions already posted are very good.

A dirty windshield will reflect more light away and diminish your vision further.

You can wear anti reflective lenses to reduce the halo affect of headlights and street lights, as well as  reduce reflected light off your lenses.

You can buy yellow (yes they are ugly) solar shields to make things brighter and improve your night vision.

Unfortunately, as at least one person commented, some people suffer from night blindness and simply are not able to drive at night.

Do have an anual eye exam in order to check the health of your eyes - not just the vision.

I hate driving at night. Where I live there are no street lights, heavy fog, and a lot of wildlife on the roads. I avoid driving at night as much as possible.

I cant see at night to drive at all. I hate when I have to do it. I cant judge distance at night...Like if headlights are coming at me while trying to turn onto a road I cant tell how far away the lights are so I know if its safe to pull out or not...Long as I can drive straight I don't have any issues...not really....

Yes, I have trouble seeing at night, for me, light tends to just splay outwards in a blurr from the source and it's especially bad at night. I find it's easier to drive at night with my contacts than with my glasses. I work nights so I have to drive at night on a regular basis. I fnd some headights are worse than others and there's very little you can do if someone's headlights are blinding you, especially those halogen lights. Those super bright lights are the bane of my existence when it comes to night driving. Sometimes I will duck down and drive at an awkward angle just to avoid those lights.

The inside of my windshield is smudged up badly and that probably just makes it worse. Everytime I try to clean it, it ends up streaky even with using streak free cleaner!

I do, but that is because I have cataracts on each eye.

I don't like driving at nite because I cannot see  as well. I have had my eyes checked and the dr. said they are O.K. I think it is is just the diminished vision that everyone gets ,to one degree or another, that makes me uncomfortable.
