Does anyone else have trouble seeing while driving at night??
« on: October 11, 2012, 04:45:07 am »
I hate driving at night. I absolutely CANNOT see. I know I need my vision checked. Things are somewhat blurry. If there are no lights out to illuminate the road I really have to strain. But my biggest problem is my eyes are SO sensitive to light at night. Car headlights are the worst. If they're on-coming I have to look down to the right away from them in order to see the road. I flip my rear view mirror and adjust my side mirrors because the lights behind me are too bright. What's wrong with me and is there anything I can do? Anyone else deal with this? ???

Yes, I have the same thing. I won't drive after dark unless I absolutely have to, because I have a harder time seeing, and the lights from other cars bother me too.

One thing that helped me is using  Aquapel on my car windows after I go through the car wash. It doesn't diminish the lights from the other cars, but it makes the windshield less blurry in the rain, and it helps reduce the smudgy light effect.

I do have my eyes checked once a year because I wear glasses, and did bring it up once. My optician said if I needed to drive at nights on a regular basis there would be a special prescription lens he would suggest for me, but since I do it so rarely it's not something I really need right now.

Never knew there was a special lens for night driving.  I'm going to my eye doctor next week, gonna ask him about it.  Thanks for the interesting info. :)

The only time I have trouble seeing at night driving is when there is heavy fog or if the street lights are dim.

My eye doctor told me to keep the inside of the car windows washed and that does help a lot. so try to wash them every month.

you could be suffering from "night blindness" Get checked for it. As I understand this, when you have this, it is not safe to drive at night. Only a medical professional can solve this for you.

Yeah, I do. The lights (other cars, signals) blind me. I don't drive at night.

I'm like this too, I don't like driving at night.  The lights from the oncoming cars seem to temporarily blind me and I saw a couple of deer the other night on the side of the road and they FRIGHTEN me!

I too don't like driving at night or during heavy rain because at night it's hard to see and during the rain it's too blurry. If I can help it i try to avoid them both.

I hate night driving but especially if it's raining.  It's very diificult for me when it's raining and I can't see the white edge lines.

Yes it is annoying, but I live with it. It is awful when I don't have my contacts in but I try to plan before.

I am finding it more difficult to drive at night and tend to avoid it when ever possible.  Part of it has to do with getting older and the way our eyes change with age.

I have always had a hard time seeing at night! Even when I was a teen. I have perfect eyesight and always have too. I have read that women have trouble seeing at night more than men do....
I always look at the line on the right side of the road and am blinded if it is worn off or if there isn't one. I use it as my guide. My husband is a motorcycle rider and has special glasses to wear at night. I have tried them and they do brighten things quite a bit! I too try not to drive at night unless I have too.  :sad1:
