My school never had school uniforms, and I never had this problem. The idea presented here is that children should not have any free time, and should be 100% dedicated to learning and learning only, and that anything that can get in the way of this 24/7 learning process is a necessary evil and should be controlled.

Otherwise, a child would (and should) have free time and thus the fact that they choose to spend that free time choosing what clothes to wear shouldn't affect their school work.

How about this: We should give students choices in their lives since it teaches them the negative and positive aspects of their choices. This alone can teach them more about what real life is about more than anything else.

Yes my girls are on uniforms and it has cut down on some of the bullying. the kids who can afford to "DRESS" do and then look down on the ones who can't like my girls. the high school uniforms are more strick then the elem. the 18 year old has to wear either black or kacki bottoms then black, white, or red tops but they can't wear black on black and they ahve to be collared shirts. the 10 year old can wear black, kacki and navy pants or the dresses with white, navy (or light blue) and gold(or another shade of yellow)on top. but if you have a money issues like we do or if you have a child who is hard to fit (I.E. thin as a rail but tall) try going to good will or some other thrift store. the 10 year old is going right through pants because of how tall she is getting. she only weighs 62 but she is already about 4'8" give or take.

I think school uniforms should be mandatory. The children look professional in their school uniforms. Second of all, wearing school uniforms prevent students from competing by wearing expensive clothes.

Yes this is a two sided coin. I can find agreement with both sides. It is like gun control. There are good points on both sides. I wonder if there have been any actual studies that would support one side or the other more?
