I was just about to ask about the noise b/c I plan to buy a couple of canaries in January.  Also, do you have to clip their wings or is that done once at the pet store?

I had 2 parakeets but gave them to my neighbor who was lonely.  Clipping  their wings is not a permanent thing.  They do grow back.  I didn't find any more noise with 2 than with one, who by the way, had no tail feathers when we bought him but those grew out also.

As a little girl I have always had parakeets and I enjoyed the noise cause it was like other people in the house in a sense lol. Cockatiel is what we have now and I enjoy when trying to whistle to our cockatiel that it trys to make the same sound. I also had one when I was a teen and I swear she was trying very hard to say my name as I kept saying it to her thinking she may, as a whistle form of communication. I love birds!

I also have got 3 birds, Sunshine is a peach front conure, Ringo is an severe macaw, and then Bomber an African Grey.  They all can say some words, however my African Grey, can have conversations in 2 different voices, it is hilarious I love em all!!

I grew up having parakeets and canaries!  Sometimes they were kinda loud but messy was the biggest thing that I remember!!!  I remember feathers and seeds being everywhere around the cages!!
