Be Rich or Be Happy?.....

Money can't buy you happiness, but being without money is sure miserable. 

I agree but if forced to make a decission between the two, I would have to choose happiness.

As for lottery winners, some are not able to handle their new found riches. If they had  made the proper decisions prior to claiming their prizes ( seeing lawyers and fininial planners), they my had been happier ( or some still may not have been).

I think the basic premise is wrong if you're assuming that rich doesn't equate happiness or that happiness is possible without a certain level of income that may or may not be considered by some as being rich.

I would always choose happy over rich.  I am already happy...just working on the rich part now...but if it makes me unhappy, no thanks (but I have a hunch I wouldn't have any trouble with it, lol).

Of course money can (and does) buy happiness. Pretty much everything in your life costs money. Take all of your comforts away, and you will not be a happy camper. I think the point is that being filthy rich won't necessarily make you happier than the average middle class person. We DO need money to be happy, just not necessarily an excess of it.

Right now, I'm willing to bet that money can buy me some happiness. I'm tired of living on a pay check once a week and its usually less than a $100. So, money may not buy you happiness but, I think it will for me

I'd choose happiness. Money can't buy you happiness but it gives you some room to breathe so you can focus on the things that make you happy. Money's not everything, but it's a whole lot of something.
