wow!
My husband and I have three children and are planning on a fourth in the near future. Its amazing how people think there should be a set limit.
I thought in this country we prided ourselves on our "freedom of choice"
I say there is no perfect number, as long as you can take care of them then do as you wish...and even if you cant...well every child is a gift from God and should be cherished

2 at the most. It's selfish and irresponsible to have more. We can limit our population humanely with birth control, or we can let the Four Horsemen do it, far less humanely.

children are a gift from God I will take as many as I can get, after reading many post on here i realize that i should edit my post i say this because i have infertility problems and our first baby is a miracle we spent well over $20,000.00 on treatments to have her, we plan to try one more time and possible adopt a couple of children who needs home possible a sibling group my heart always goes out to those children because they end up getting split up alot of times.

Children are a "gift" of healthy reproductive organs/systems and biology.

Are you asserting that a couple that is sterile is less deserving of having a child than a couple that is capable?  Why are they less deserving?  What kind and caring god would predetermine a couple to be sterile because they're not deserving of having children?  Seems fairly rude.

It's not really amazing that people think there should be a limit.  It's more amazing that people are arrogant enough to think their little boxed in world does not effect anyone else.

Not to mention you just confirmed that, in your opinion, it's perfectly fine for people to have as many kids as they want even if they can't care for them properly -.- You seriously don't think this effects anyone else?  We're not even talking about in your community...this kind of logic has an effect worldwide.

With freedoms, in this case freedom of choice, comes great responsibilities.

i deffinately think if you have the financial means and the living space have as many that is resonable/responsible for your situation. i don't think there is any cookie cutter mold that everyone fits into, for example myself and a friend of mine are both 24, we live in the same apt complex, she has 1 child 5 yrs old, she is trying to have another and she is really bad with budgeting, i have 3 kids 9,6,and 10 months and i'm very good with money, and we have about the same income (give or take a 10-30.00), i think to have kids you really need to look at how you live and if a child can fit in to that equation, my friend thinks because i have 3 kids she will be just fine with one more, but she can't pay her bills as it is now, i'm never behind on a bill and have a savings. so it just goes to show you it depends on the individual

It has nothing to do with the economy, people should not be limited to the number of kids they.  However, I do not think a couple needs more than 2 kids.  A big family was reasonable back when the survival rate was low and when all members of the family worked.  But, today kids are not allowed to work until they are 16 for the most part, and diseases are a little more controlled.  Having huge families is just a burden for the couple.  Also, the world really is getting overpopulated in livable areas.

It truly upsets me the most when someone that should not have more than a kid or two starts having multiple kids and I have to end up supporting them through my taxes.

it should definately be up to the family, but just having one child is unfair for the kid.  I think they need a brother or sister to be well rounded.

I think that would be at the discretion of the person or couples involved.  However, I do think that finances should play a huge part in this.  I don't think that it is a very smart idea to have children that you are not able to care for, but if you have it and want to share, I say go for it and have as many as your heart desires!

I don't believe it is up to us to say how many children people can have. It is the decision of the parents. Obviously, the parents have to have good judgment when deciding how many kids they should have so they can provide for all of their children and look after them, but that varies depending on who the parents are, so it wouldn't really be right to have a set limit.
And how exactly do those who are in agreement with a child cap law propose the government enforce it?  Sterlization?  Abortion?  Fines?  That wouldn't fix the overpopulation and would eventually cause more problems.
Someone wrote a book about that. Fictional, of course, but still scary to think about.

I think a couple should have as many children as they can support..i personally have only 1 so far and i want 2 more but with my husband's work, as slow as it is, it wouldn't be such a great idea to have another one..we're just makin it with the 3 of us so i wouldn't have anymore till the work picks up
