Comic hero movies
« on: September 28, 2012, 08:28:28 am »
There has been movies about Batman, Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Avengers, Superman, Iron Man, Green Lantern, Blade, The Punisher, Ghost Rider, and others I forgot.

Who thinks they should stop making movies about comic book characters?
Who wants to see more movies about comic book characters?
Is there a certain character you want to see in a movie (ie. Kraven the Hunter, or Nightwing)?

It doesn't really matter to me, but if you actaully read comic books it's nice to see it "come to life".

They will continue making them because they're money makers, for the most part.

I like them.  Some more than others.  I don't see any reason to quit making them.  You don't have to go see them if you don't like them.

I enjoy watching comic book characters come alive in movies, especially characters I'm familiar with. As to characters I would like to see dedicated to them, I would say Silver Surfer, but more like comic character self with the Galactus I've grown up with (not the movie version one I saw in FF2).

It depends on if they have people interested in the properties or exceptional people working on them.  Joss Whedon, Sam Raimi, and Jon Favreau are comic fans.  Their work on Avengers, the Spider-Man trilogy, and Avengers showed that.  I have no idea if Guillermo del Toro or Chris Nolan were comic book fans before working on Blade Trilogy/Hellboy 1-2 and the Batman trilogy respectively, however I know that both are exceptional directors.  Given average directors with no affection for the properties you're left with movies like Daredevil, Elektra, Fantastic Four 1 & 2, or even something worse like Man-Thing.  I'd be happy if the current rumors of Ben Affleck working on DC properties is true.  Affleck has shown that he can be an incredible director.  Otherwise I'd like to see Zack Snyder working with the main DC properties.  He took on the most sacred cow in comicdom and produced a pretty good movie.  Personally, I'd like to see a Sandman movie directed by Terry Gilliam.

Hollywood only cares about money. Superhero movies bring in big numbers. I doubt they'll be stopping the trend anytime soon. Especially as special effects improve and all.

I am looking forward to more Avengers movies.  I hope they keep Whedon involved with them.  I really like the way he combines great action sequences with humor.

If we are being honest, I have seen just about every single comic book hero movie that was ever made.  I have a lot of them but I actually perfer the later ones that aren't so 'comic bookie'.  My favorite is still Ironman but I think that's just because of Robert Downey Jr.  He adds just the right amount of sarcasm to his charater to make it so enjoyable.
