I don't believe in it. But to each his own. Just don't try to force it on me. Because i won't support it.

I don't believe in xtianity but, to each their own. Just don't try to force it on me because I won't support it.  In fact, I'll oppose such at every turn.

I love how some christians say that marriage is a religious thing, and yet on government forms (separate from religion--right?) I am classified as a married man?? Two people can be married by a judge, with no religious affiliations? THese "strong" christians are trying to make us believe that everyone must believe as they do--news flash--human's will never agree with each other as a whole! I am not registered with a church, nor would i classify myself as atheist---but when it comes down to it, if two men or two women want to get legally MARRIED (not "civil union") why should I choose whether or not they can do that??? The "sanctity of marriage" as so many homophobes state as the reason for no gay marriage, will actually be improved--don't you think that people who have to fight so hard for the right to marry are more likely to stay together than the more than 50% of "straight" marriages that end in divorce??

As soon as anyone brings forth an INTELLIGENT argument that doesn't have the word "god" or "bible" in it against same sex marriage, I will listen.

Aren't those mutually-exclusive parameters?

I don't believe in same sex marriage but if they want to live together that's their business - just don't shove it down my throat.

I am all for it people should be able to marry who they love as long as both people are consenting adults and they are in love they should have the right to be happy. I know a lot of people have religous reasons why they are against but they are neglecting the fact that not every shares there religous beliefs so we should impose laws based on one religion in a free country  .IF someone can give a reason against that has nothing to do with religion maybe I will listen but otherwise leave them alone they are not hurting anyone. They are not going to effect anyone elses marriage if your marriage is falling it has nothing to with gay people it has to do with you sucking at marraige. And the whole arguement that marriage is sacred is ridicluous .Straight like myself can married and divorced over and over but a gay or lesbian couple who has been together for 20 years cant married thats ridiclous to me.Straight but not narrow

Exactly.  It's odd how some of the religious adherents against this are claiming a religious basis when the concept of marriage started out as a pagan/non-mainstream concept, (more to do with regulating the transfer of wealth/property than with religious pretentions).

I guess if you would read the bible (which could be called the way to life eternal) through Jesus, I think you would change your mind about this.  I know God destroyed Sodom and Gomorroh because of this very thing.

No, you simply 'believe' such religious mythology without factual basis.  That's no reason, (e.g., based upon reasoning, not blind faith), to base a decision on.

I believe that we are all here on this earth to perfect our souls. I feel that we have all charted certain things for ourselves in order to accomplish this. If this involves being married to the same sex then there must be a reason why it has to be experienced. We shouldn't judge one another on what we think is right or true. It is up to each of us to live our lives the way we feel we need to.

I respect your strong belief in this religon but the problem remains that not everyone follows your religion and should not have live life without marriage becuase of one religion out of many that are praticed in this country which we all share.I was very  religous person but I choice to take different things from like the fact god created people the way are we should love them and allow them to be that way.History is filled with powerful people who were not straight and back then nobody and we shouldnt care now

You don't have to marry a gay person if you don't want to.   I agree with Premar16.  They should be able to marry and have the same rights for inheritance, social security, insurance, ownership as everyone else.  A lot of my work is in hospitals and if you have been with someone for 20, 30, 40 years it is a shame/crime that the hospital can shut you out of your partners last days or hours because you are not  married and so not family.   You can go through a lot, lot, lot, of paperwork and expense to be there, but it should not be so.  In these instances a lot of nut cases in the family come out to, to make sure the partner does not get any of the property either that they worked together for over the years.
