Dragon Speech Recognition Software
« on: September 22, 2012, 02:24:36 am »
I keep seeing commercials for Dragon and it sounds like a great idea, but I don't know if it's worth it.  Does anyone have any experience with it?  Is it worth the cost?  Do you have to speak really loud to get it to understand you?  What is your opinion of it?

Why not just type it yourself? The only case I can see it being even remotely valuable is in the case of a disabled person who is unable to type.

My wife had it because she has Fybromyagia  and it misspelled many words and didnt recognize certain words she was saying. Now she doesnt even use it. IMO it's not worth buying.

Alright.  My mother never learned how to touch type so typing for her is really difficult it seems.  I was wondering if this would be an option for her, but if people aren't that happy with it, maybe not.  Figured I'd try it out first before buying her something that she wouldn't like, plus I do a lot of work on the computer and figured it would be a nice change to be able to take a break from typing to be able to just say what I want to write.
