I suffer from some SERIOUS headaches... I don't take much anymore for them b/c nothing seems to work.
You can try rubbing (REAL) peppermint oil on your temples.... sometimes it works; sometimes not.
Also, if you can find your pressure points in your hands and your rub them, it can help relieve pain as well.
Good Luck!!

I have seen Alka-Seltzer recommended because it contains a painkiller and starts to work instantly.  Sometimes I will take 2 Tylenol, 2 ibuprofen and 2 aspirin.  Excedrin or equivalent works well but sometimes makes me nauseated as it contains caffeine.  Caffeine in coffee and cola doesn't bother me, so I don't know why Excedrin makes me sick.  I've been a nurse for a long time.  I've had the occasional migraine where I wanted to just shoot myself.  Once I got off replacement hormones after menopause, the headaches decreased significantly.

I wont take anything to do with alka seltzer it almost took my life. I suffered 2 strokes and a cardiac arrest.  I get a pain from my doctor for my headaches. Sometimes they are so severe everyone look out. I get them all over my head. I recently ran out and I got some prescription ibuprofin{?} I have 600mg and the 800mg it helped alot. I just had to quit taking my aspirin because you cant that with ibuprofin.  Also they you for the tip for the black olives.

I learned years ago that there is an acupressure point for headaches.
A young man 20 years younger than me showed me when I had some real bad headaches.

Spread your hand out so that the web between your dfirst finger and thumb is tight and stretched.
Ask a friend or relative or someone, anyone to pinch the web part.
You feel the pulse of bloodflow in your head, the pain in your head, when you are being pinched at that spot.
That is your headache.
Have the person pinch you about 5 times.  The pain goes away in 15 minutes.
Pass this knowledge on....I have for the last 15 years.

I used to get the worst headaches for years and eventually ended up going to a chiropractor for help. It turns out that it was bone fused to the back of my skull and was putting pressure on my skull that was causing a lot of the pain. Also my spine was out of alignment. Before that I took two non prescription, natural remedies.

Feverfew worked well for me for years. My mother found it at GNC. It took a while to get into my system, but it helped calm some of the pain down. The fast acting feverfew with liquid inside worked more like an otc remedy for me with better results, but at some point it didn't work as well as the regular feverfew. I also took juiced fennel which is a vegetable, but tastes like licorice. It helped too. I didn't have much luck with prescription remedies, which is why I went the natural right route.

Let me know if this helps you,

I agree that Excedrin is the best. I have found if it isn't a terrible headache or migraine, Excedrin Extra Strength will suffice, otherwise, Excedrin Migraine will do the job. Regarding the absence of Excedrin in the market, there was a recall at the beginning of the year, and although Novartis (Excedrin makers) originally said it would bring it back during the summer, it was pushed back to the 4th quarter 2012.

We don't take meds of any kind.  Just used bodywork, such as chiropractic, massage, and NCR (Neurocranial Restructuring).

My headaches have been lessened since the NCR sessions.  Maybe one will come and go, but thankfully, it's not constant like it used to be.  Two more sessions to go.

I have found that the best bet is something with aspirin, acetaminophen(tylenol) and caffeine.
This is the basic formula for excedrin.
I actually do it myself to save money.
Use 1 regular aspirin, 1 extra strength tylenol(generic brand) and drink something with caffeine.
Works great for my family.

The best thing I have ever taken for a headache is Advil. It works every time.

I have found that Aleve works the best for me.  I think it depends on the person.

My vote goes with Aleve.  Immediate relief!
