I'm considering using the phrase, "once in a black moon."

Care to elaborate on this at all......?

The shadow formed by a total lunar eclipse.
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

Is that a song?

Yes - written by Rodgers and Hart, 1934
Popular (most?) version recorded in 1961 by the doo-wop group the Marcels

Or a beer?

Yes again - or beers actually. The Blue Moon Brewing Company (Golden, CO.) brews several award-winning beers.

Also a little known drink, discovered at a local pub in South Minneapolis.

I had the opportunity to enjoy this concoction on a summer's eve quite a few years ago......
Unfortunately, I enjoyed quite a few more than I should have, and the end of that story was not pretty.

Suffice it to say, I didn't have the desire to enjoy that dreaded Blue Moon concoction again.

I think it would be a great phrase to use! (Of course, I'm partial to use of the color black, anyway)

Some superstitions considered it a 'bad moon rising' though, so it has that appeal.

The end of my "Night of the Blue Moon" also could definitely be described as a bad moon rising... :P

No it was NOT really a blue moon, as far as a visible blue orb to behold

The lyrics to "Blue Moon Rising" could be a bit disturbing to some as well.

Not so much a sight to see, but an uncommon event.

It refers to a season that normally has three full moons having four full moons, and the blue moon was the third full moon in that season.

Wouldn't a black moon be a lunar eclipse where the shadow of the earth blacks out or blocks the light of the sun?

The moon has been looking huge and orange for almost a week before the Blue Moon this past Saturday. Truly a beautiful sight. But the night of the Blue Moon, you could tell just looking at it, there was something truly special about it. )O( Blessed be the Blue Moon Energy!

Would you be able to find it on the internet? That would be so great! I love things like that. These things are so rare! Did anyone know this was going to happen? There's a really old song about a blue moon that has been one of my favorites. I hate that I missed that.  8) 8) 8)
