I got new Alpaca-- for 8 pounds of Carrots! Do You Barter?

Living in the country, barter is a big thing around here. My best barters this month were a pool table (competition grade ) that needed re-felting in exchange for a bushel of mixed veggies-- and today, an unaltered male alpaca to keep my 3 females occupied for 8 pounds of carrots!  I re-felted the table and sold it for 200.00 dollars last week 

So I got curious-- the economy stinks, so I wondered if anyone else barters occasionally or regularly, and what was your best barter ever?

I traded a used Playstation 2 for a used Xbox 360, and then traded that toward my Playstation 3. Best trade ever, for me, anyway.

i dont know anyone personally that has used bartering but it does sound like it works.

I can't recall ever bartering for anything.  Pretty much just a buy or sell for cash person.
