Cold or Allergies
« on: August 26, 2012, 06:14:50 am »
How hard is it to actually to tell the difference between a cold or having allergies to me it seems to be the same thing. I woke yesterday morning it hit all at once, coughing sneezing, running nose and stuffy nose from time to time with watery eyes. But no fever thank god, Just allergies that are a pain in the neck. :BangHead:

Yes, allegies and colds seem the same to me too.

They are very much alike.  I seem to feel a little more "run down" when it is a cold.

I agree, with a cold you feel lousy and allergies give watery eyes.

I think many times we start with alleregies.  Thanks to all the mucus and germs then we get the privelage of a cold.  blah
I recently noticed on a lot of packaging of cold related medicines, you will see an ingredient called antihistamine . .  .  so I gather the companies making the product know the secret that is probably more allergic reactions than colds! ::)

I know when I get a fairly severe allergy attack, it's hard to tell the difference between them.  What I've learned to do is to pay attention to the time of year (as I tend to be more susceptible to allergies at certain times of the year).  If it's in one of my known allergy seasons, I'll try taking an OTC allergy med.  If my symptoms clear up within the half hour, I know its allergies.  If not, it's a cold.

Normally when it is a cold I feel a lot more run down than I do with allergies.

My son has allergies to dust and with his medicine hes okay. We hardly get colds unless we are around someone who doesnt cover they mouth when coughing or doesnt sneeze away from us which is gross. Thank God we havent had a cold going almost 2 years.

Living through that right now..... I still go to work, but no one wants to be in meetings with me since they think I'm going to make them sick. I'm fairly sure it's just allergies, but it's still annoying as heck...
