Snoring partner
« on: August 22, 2012, 07:45:40 am »
Snoring partner, do you try to stop the snoring or do you just ignore it? If you try to stop it, what do you do? Do shake them, do you yell, do you just turn and cover your ears with a pillow, do you pinch their nose and mouth closed until they can no longer breath, spray cold water in the face, earplugs, change rooms, punch them, kick them, or the classic elbow to the ribs? Or if your darling snores like a chainsaw, do you actually try to convince them to go to the doctor?

I don't currently have that problem but, maybe I will someday, just curious as to what everybody else does.

My wife convinced me to go to the doctor and I got a CPAP machine, problem solved and it most likely saved my life.

I am single but when my son and grandson lived with me awhile, my son said he could hear me through my closed bedroom door of me snoring.  I usally sleep on my side, so I thought you only snore when you sleep on you back.  Hope everyone has a good day and may God bless each of you and keep you safe.

My husband snores like you wouldn't believe; he literally makes the bed move with his snoring and we have a solid wood king poster bed.  I usually start out jerking on my side of the bed to try to get him to turn over on his own but that does not work too often.  I'll shake him and ask him to turn over but he says he will but he never does.  I try to just tune it out but lord knows thats impossible.  Most of the time, I just give up and move to a different bedroom but even then I hear him loudly.  I've suggested to go to the dr. because the way he does in his sleep can't be good for him but he refuses to go.  We've been married 37 years and he just got bad about snoring in the last 7-10 years.  Anyway, it is a problem and I sure don't have any answers for stopping it.

My wife snores real bad!! I think it is heriditery because her whole family brings down the roof!! If I don't get to sleep before she does, I'm done for the night. I can't get to sleep then. I have told her but, you know how that goes! I've even had to sleep in the spare bedroom at times.

I try to roll him over. That kinda wakes him up and he rolls over and apologizes.  ;D

I too was kind of a  snorer.  Went to a sleep clinic, was tested and was told that I had sleep apnea.  Which means that I would quit breathing and then I would sort of snort, which would wake me up enough to start breathing again. I used to work in a hospital and evidently sleep apnea is quite a problem.  There are a lot of people in the world with the condition and don't know it.  Snoring is directly related to sleep apnea, so try and convince your loved one to go and get tested.  I was told to purchase a C-pap machine to correct the problem,  which I did and it's made an unbelievable difference, you wouldn't believe how much energy you have after getting a good night sleep.  Good luck.   :peace: :)

Luckily I fall asleep pretty quickly, so I don't hear it most of the time.  If I go to bed after him he usually only snores when he's on his back, so I'll nudge him or try to turn him over and he will usually roll on to his side and it stops.  I  also noticed that after a night out (drinking) he snored a lot worse, so we don't drink much anymore.  I suppose everyone is different, but these tricks work for me.  :)

I just ignore it myself.  I am a pretty sound sleeper, and don't usually have trouble falling asleep regardless of noise, so it really doesn't matter to me.

If i'm already asleep, the snoring doesn't bother me.  If i'm trying to fall asleep, then I'll nudge him or end up sleeping in another bed.

My husband doesn't really snore too bad. Every once in a while it'll get bad and I'll nudge him to try and get him to roll over.
He says the same about me though.

It depends how bad it is and how often....if it's get to be too annoying, I would talk to them and suggest perhaps a doctor's visit, snoring can be a sign of bad circulation, sleep apnea, etc., and could be serious

Usually tapping or nudging my spouse until turning over does the trick.

If I'm already asleep first, then I don't hear it.

I snore too, but am getting NCR which helps fix snoring as well as other problems.

My hubby snores all the time. After seven years, it doesn't really bother me.
