Skin care products/home remedies
« on: August 14, 2012, 09:09:07 pm »
i have very dry skin, which has gotten better since i've
basically cut out most beverages besides water, but i still
have to use a lot of moisturizer. i like to use the avacado/oatmeal
mask creams during my before-bed routine.

what kind of skin do you have, and what products do you like
including home remedies?

I have combination. My cheeks and chin are really dry and sensitive but my forehead and nose are a bit oily. I use the orange essence facial cleanser from Burt's Bees. It kind of leaves a nice moisturizing barrier after rinsing it off. Using that along with a moisturizer and drinking more water has really helped me.

i've never tried burt's bees products, other than lipbalms,
but have always wanted to. i like that they use all natural
ingredients, i just don't like the price tag, lol. it's probably
worth it, though.

I have combination skin. My daily routine is in 2 parts.
Morning: I use Neutrogena Citrus Burst face wash followed by an ice bath. Then, I use Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream (I swear by it!).
Evening: I use Neutrogena Deep Clean Cream Cleanser. Then, a Queen Helene Mint Julep mask followed by an ice bath.

I just realized that typed out, it seems like a process. I'm trying to take preventative measures before signs of aging start.

 I have pretty oily skin and I use a homemade herbal rinse followed by a gentle moisturizer. I've used lots of stuff in the past, but this remedy is simple, cheap, and works great!  ;D

I use the Avon Anew line for everything.  Love it!

Another soap I love and it's cheaper and lasts longer is the Kiss My Face soap bars. They have like 4 or 5 ingredients in each bar. It may leave your face a little dry but I don't have to use as much and it doesn't irritate my face.

I too have suffered in the past from dry skin. Not anymore! First of all stop using the supermarket soap as I call it, and start buying soap from the heath food store. Dr. Bronners almond oil soap is very good for dry skin and soaps without perfume and harsh dyes. Coco butter and olive oil in their pure state free of chemicals and vitamin e both internally and used externally and after a few months your skin will be very nice and not dry. Green vegetables and carrots also contribute to some really great skin. :angel11:

once a week i use the sensitive skin care light face wash (or any light face wash) with an exfoliating sponge (otherwise thanks to the nasty florida weather my face starts to look peely) and then the rest of the week, i wash my face in the shower with clean and clear (i change the kind everytime i run out - right now it's a yellow one (i don't know what it's called) and then when i get out of the shower, i use clean and clear astringent and let it air dry for 10 - 15 mins. then I put a decent amount of face moisturizer - i use two different kinds - they both work equally as well. one is an acne fighting moisturizer (i believe clean and clear) and the other is just a small ponds brand. then i leave that on all night. in the morning, i use the astringent again, and let it air dry for 10 - 15 mins. use a smaller amount of the acne moisturizer and apply any makeup! none of these things I am really set on, brand wise... it just happens to be what I have at the time. if I see a new face moisturizer or have heard good things about it I usually get it and that applies to face washes as well.
