I've been trying this new cleaning tactic
« on: August 10, 2012, 08:25:46 am »
10 minutes a day in each room.  I've only been doing it for 3 days and it seems like my house is so much nicer/better and I am much more relaxed and I have SO much more time for myself and my kids.

Are sure you don't mean 10 minutes a day in *a* room? Because even if you only have five rooms, that's 50 minutes!  :o

I try to clean every day but sometimes work gets more of my time that I expected. My house is usually always clean though. Just some days I get behind.

Yeah, I find consistant daily maintanence of my house is much easier than full fledge cleaning each week.

I like that process myself.  I just put in the time as I go and the house stays up to par.  Much better for me than a big cleaning once a week which really can take the better part of a day. I like breaking it up and don't notice the time loss at all because it comes in much smaller chunks.  I actually enjoy cleaning so really don't mind just doing it as I go through the day/week.  I like the feeling of a clean home, so this way I get to enjoy it that way all the time.

That is one good way to get it done, by pacing yourself.

I agree...a lot of picking up can be done in 10 minutes.  The trick is putting things away right away so "picking up" isn't unnecessary.  Than 10 min here and there can be spent sweeping, dusting or vacuuming.  You know what's even better?  When you're kids are old enough and they can each be given a 10 minute task each day.  Between my family of 5 that would be 350 minutes of weekly cleaning among us.

I found TKO orange. It is diluted and smells so nice - orange. I use it as an air freshener as well as cleaning in the bathroom.

I try to stick to a similar plan by doing a little each day, I just don't really limit it to any amount of time.  Sometimes I do miss some days and then end up having to have a longer cleaning day.  Overall, it works well, though.  :)

Bingo!  I do a little each day, then on Friday or Saturday total cleaning from top to bottom.

Yep, that's what works for me as well.  Cleaning kitchen as soon as breakfast is done seems to take no more than about 15 mins.  I agree with what you've said.  Ten minutes here and ten minutes there, with the exception that I do nothing on Sundays usually if possible.  Unless, of course, expecting company or something, but that is rare on Sundays.  My friends and I seem to do most stuff on Fridays.

I mean 10 minutes a room, but lately they are so clean they don't need the full 10...that's a total of 2 hours and 10 minutes, yeah, but it's better then what I did before and it flies by/ does n't seem so bad when it's only ten minutes.
