I'm going to write this in a, hopefully, less rude way then people have done for me. Cause I don't know about you, but I kinda get tired of people assuming all I do is shovel cake into my mouth all day and wash it down with soda when I say I'm trying to lose weight.
It sounds really stupid, but find something you enjoy doing for exercise. I get bored with things so quickly and can only watch a DVD twice before the dialogue begins to annoy me. Plus, I find it kinda insulting having someone who looks in shape tell me to keep going while they stand there telling you about how Jamie's form is perfect. Anyway, rant aside, I started doing dancing video games like Dance Dance Revolution or Dance Central as a way to keep me interested. Plus, I'm kinda competitive so that "What?! I didn't get a perfect score?! I'm doing it again," thing helps me work out longer. I also started doing suspension training. That is probably one of the hardest ways to work out cause, even if you can do a push-up normally, that slight wiggle in your arms makes it ten times harder. However, because of that slight wiggle, you're using more muscles to keep yourself steady, thus giving you a better workout. I try to do that during commercials when I'm watching TV
Work exercise into your daily routine. I take my dog on a bike ride/walk to get her some exercise. I vary this so that both of us do different things so it isn't to repetitive. One of my friends would play video games online, and there is generally a loading period before the game, so he decided to do push-ups during that time. While I'm making breakfast I'll do squats or leg lifts. One of my professors would bike to work which was practically a 10 mile ride for him one way. Basically, if you're doing something you have to do anyway, why not make it work for you?
Water, water, water. Drinking water really helps. It seems like most of us are in a constant state of dehydration and just don't notice it. Get a bottle or two, fill with water, and try to empty them every day. Consider mixing some cider vinegar into the water. It's suppose to help with weight loss (as well as other things) plus it can help whiten your teeth. Make the water taste good to you. I prefer freezing cold water, which can be hard to maintain throughout the day. I've started to carry sweet tea mix so that when my water runs out I can keep drinking something that is less sugar than the soda that's available. Mio, or the like, is a good alternative though don't over do it cause it gets rather sweet IMO.
Make healthy snacks. I haven't eaten potato chips in years. I try to avoid candy and other things. However, that doesn't help the fact that I will be kinda hungry and want something. One bag of mini peeled carrots and a cup of ranch and I'll practically eat it all. It would probably be healthier without the ranch, but I figure it's better than the potato chips. If you have the time to chop up the carrots (or your choice of veggie/fruit), I'd recommend doing it then instead of ahead of time to avoid losing nutrients. Deviled eggs are supposed to be another good weight loss snack food and they really aren't that difficult to make. If you put the yolks in a sandwich bag, smash them with your hands, add mayo and mustard, mush again, season, cut a corner off the bag and pipe mixture back into egg whites, you can pretty much eliminate most of the mess.
Add nuts (assuming you aren't allergic). I've read that a high amount of vitamin E can help get oxygen travel around the body. It's useful for healing cuts and wounds, will erase scars and spider veins if continuously applied, and does other stuff though sadly I can't remember. Nuts are a great source of vitamin E and are a great snack to take since they don't need to be refrigerated.
Visually represent your weight loss/days worked. I have a notebook that I write down my weight in so I can keep track. My sister got a plastic glass and is dropping marbles into it for every pound she loses. My one friend puts quarters into a milk jug every time she works out. All of these gives you something to look at so you see that you are doing something, even if you gain it back or stop losing.
If you have the time and resources, considering juicing organic veggies and fruits. It gives you a high concentration of the nutrients in a single glass, and liquids are digested quicker, so it's less for you to burn off later. Plus, they will clean out your system, even if you are a rather healthy eater you'd be amazed how you feel. I swear it's like your cells are happy or something. If you can't juice, consider smoothies or something else. My friends use protein powder to enhance their smoothies though I've never tried this method. My mom adds Brewers Yeast which is a mix of B vitamins for energy though be careful the first few days you use it cause it can cause gas.
Probiotics. Many people take antibiotics for colds and such, however, we need a good amount of good bacteria in our body to be healthy. I normally notice the results of taking them within the first few weeks though it may differ for you.
Lastly, get others in your house to do this with you. Even if they don't need to lose weight, it's so much easier to do it when others aren't buying gallons of ice cream and such. Or, if you don't have this issue, get a friend to workout with so it gives you someone to discuss your goals and issues with so you don't feel alone. Plus, then it gives you someone else to help push you through those bad days when you don't feel like doing anything.
I'm sure there are plenty of more information that can be helpful though I can't really think of it. From what I've heard, P90X is a good exercise though I personally don't have the time to devote to that type of workout. That's why I've tried to find way to lose without really needing to devote hours to a workout.
