I WOULD SAY THAT IS TO CHEAP. I KNOW SOME WOMEN THAT TAKE CARE OF THE ELDER AND THEY GET PAID $40 TO $50 BUCKS A DAY. AND THEY DONT WORK FOR AN AGENCY. I WOULD ASK FOR A LITTLE BIT MORE IF I WAS YOU.

The care my mom had before she passed was 22 an hour they did not clean or cook for her just sat with her and helped her to the toilet ect I would check around in your area to see what the going rate is and go from there you want to be fair but you dont want to be to cheap either its hard stressful work good luck

I agree that is pretty cheap, however I don't think there is enough money to pay anyone for that kind of care.  It takes so much out of you physically and emotionally.  I know, because I was a caregiver for my Mom for a few months and it wore on me so bad.  Of course, I know would be different if you are not related to the lady but if you get emotionally involved it will wear you down.  Good luck and God bless you for doing it.

Well I am not sure all that you are asking. If you have to give up your current job it seems you should make sure you are getting a comparable amount of compensation. Although I am not sure how many hours you would be working $100 a week is low unless you are only working a few hours a day. I get $10.20/hour doing in home caregiving through senior and disabled services. Some people get about $100 a day doing 24/7 care on the low end. It just depends on your situation. If she can't pay anymore maybe there is a way to keep your job and help her out some on your off time for a couple hours a day. Like I said it all depends on how much care she needs, for how long and if it works for you to help her. If the money, hours, etc.. aren't right it is best to tell her that too and not agree to something that could ultimately be a bad situation for you both.
