I use Skype to talk to my friends and relatives all the way to Florida, New York etc. But lately I have some people calling I don't know so I don't answer. I thought they originally had to send you a request to be on your system, not just come straight through. Today, I had one come through saying it was a Skype system check that my computer was not performing up to speed and that My security was needing updated, no picture just a voice sounding very official. It wanted me to go to some website, suspossedly Skypes to get my secured update etc. I think it is a scam, how they figured this out is beyond me. Does anyone else use Skype and have you had this happen to you?

I have been using skype to call friends and family as well, but what you mentioned didn't happen to me. I hope there is some setting you can change, so strangers won't be able to call you!!

I received that same message.  I simply deleted it Because someone is always working trying to get your confidential info.  I like Skype also, but I use it for business only.

I have skype and i get the system check calls.... i just ignore them.

I use Skype quite a bit and get some 'official sounding' stuff sometimes but I never accept their contact.  I'm not sure how they manage but I always check the skype website when I get stuff like that & if there is nothing there, I block whoever is trying to contact me.

Our daughter taught us about Skype when she was living in Costa Rica and now I talked my sister into using it so we can talk for FREE...
