Computer 24/7

Does anyone know how much extra it adds to your electricity bill to leave a desktop or a laptop computer on 24/7?

I always keep my desktop on 24/7 and my bill is never ridiculous.. piece of advice thoug, if you decide to turn your comp off, make sure you keep your monitor on.. The more you turn on and off your monitor, the more likely it goes out.. And if you are trying to save money on your electric bill, unplug your electronis when not using them.. Save tons of money

Actually, I was asking because I am trying out this thing called magic jack to replace a landline and it requires you to leave your computer on to get calls.  So I am really just trying to figure out if the increase in my electric bill would add more than I would save with the product.  I will most likely turn the computer off at night when I don't need to get my calls anyway, so I guess it isn't really 24/7, but it is still a lot more energy than I consume now with my computer.

It is very minimal.  If your electric company has an online site, most of the time they have a self help place where you can see a breakdown of what each appliance in your house costs on average.

Yeah, but you can use less and save a couple of bucks, so why not make an attempt.
