Ring of Fire tonight
« on: May 20, 2012, 05:27:03 pm »
The "ring of fire" is an "annular solar eclipse--the first one in the USA in almost 18 years.

An annular eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly in front of the sun, but the lunar disk is not quite wide enough to cover the entire star.  At maximum, the Moon forms a "black hole" in the center of the sun."

One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

I saw the eclipse briefly before the the clouds got in the way. Still an amazin sight. There is something suppose to be even more spectacular later this year.

wow!  Thanks for the ups on the the ring of fire.

You're welcome.  Realizng that not everyone would get a chance to see it, I figured at least "left coasters", some Canadians, those in Reno and through Midland Texas might chance a look up last night and see what Johnny Cash wasn't singing about.

I was floating on the river and missed it. :P
Sad, but couldn't see it for all the trees and some cloud cover.

Luckily, there's pictures and video from others!
