Hebrews 11:6

6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Hebrews 11:6
New International Version (NIV)
6 And without faith it is impossible to please God ...

Since "faith" is an unsupported belief, (without evidence), and in this context, in a religious superstition; it's an irrational conviction.  The conclusion drawn is that, in the religious belief of the adherent, the hypothetical 'deity' requires such irrationality in order to be 'pleased'.

That's the sort of thing that brought on the "dark ages". I'm opposed to bring on "dark ages".

Ut-oh, you may take some heat for that from certain quarters but, the sentiment is appreciated.  Maybe you could go into why you agree with the line of reasoning if wished?

Do you know who was largely responsible for preserving a great deal of the knowledge during the 'Dark Ages' in Europe?
There are only 10 types of people in the world:  those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Do you mean that which wasn't burned at the Library of Alexandria by religious adherents, that which was suppressed/destroyed by the Vatican or, that the remainder, (who knows how much "knowledge" gleaned up until then was lost to religious fanaticism?), was "preserved" by the same religious adherents doing the burning/suppressing?
