Power Outage

Today it makes one year since the power outage in the Northern Part of AL, it was very rough being with out power for an entire week... I had much more bbq than I wanted to eat and counted the cold showers I had to take... this is something i will never forget.. I would love to read other ppl stories about power outage..

Wow, that's brutal! A few weeks ago we had one that lasted 14 hours and I thought I was going to die.  :BangHead: I don't know what I'd do for that whole time.

Yeah same here...
We are so in tune and so "stuck" to our electronics that "some" of us wouldn't know what to do...like me!!!

Yeah everybody does depend on technology... I would have had a phone if I didnt have a car charger... which i had to walk to the store to get b/c the gas stations were close and we didnt have any

    You just have to be prepared! Make an emergency kit: One blanket, one towel, first day kit, candles, one battery operated lamp, some snacks and water bottles...other items as needed. Place them all in backpack...ready to grab and go.

I was lucky growing up in the country that our house was only a couple of miles from the power station. That means the longest we ever had our power out was for a few hours. Although I know other kids who went to my school who had their power out for 2 1/2 weeks. I can't even imagine how hard that would be especially during the cold months. I live in the city now and have only had the power out a couple of hours.

when I had a power outage, we had some wind-up flashlights and radio, so we kept track of the news. As for foods, either packets or my portable gas stove.
