I actually didn't go to my prom because my bf wasn't allowed to come because he was 21 to the time.

I'm actually going to prom next weekend  ;D! It is so expensive for all the expenses! I had to pay for my tux rental, my ticket, her ticket, pictures, corsages, and rides. It is very frustrating but hopefully it will be all worth it. I'm pretty sure that I will have a lot of good memories from it. It is going to be at a really nice hotel .

My high school prom was almost fifty years ago. Back then, girls wore big fancy evening gowns and many had them made by seamstresses. The guys wore rented tuxedoes and patent leather shoes.  The guys always gave their dates a corsage, usually carnations or sometimes an orchid. The prom itself was in the high school gym which had been transformed by the decorating committee.  My best prom memories are the preparations ahead of time.  We stayed up all night stuffing Kleenex into chicken wire for the "ceiling and walls" of our dance floor.
