I don't believe it be immoral to cut food stamps for the poor.  I think that Congress should give jobs to the poor so that they can pay for food with money or food stamps that they have earned.  I think that there is a lot of misuse and abuse within the system and I do not condone free handouts.  I work extremely hard for money that I  never see or use...it goes to support my family in every endeavor they go for.  My reward is the satisfaction of seeing them succeed and the strength they gain from every victory.  They work for the extras...even my kids and in that way come to appreciate the value of what they have.  Handing someone tends to make them dependant on the source and unappreciative.

No, not immoral. I do think it would be wise to cut food stamps to people who are not deserving, and in doing so it would probably benefit the poor who should actually be receiving the help.

yes it is the poor has the right to eat too

No, they don't.  No one has a "right to eat"
If you can obtain food you have the ability to eat it.

I'm so with you!  For all the money we send all over the world helping others - we must start taking care of our people here at home. There is no reason for anyone in this country to go hungry. No one. Especially children!  The proposed cuts are going to take food out of the mouths of primarily children, elderly, disabled, and women.  I've heard that there are concerns about fraud. This only 1% which will always happen in any system. That's relatively low considering the increase in food stamps (twice the amount since 2007).  Good topic - thanks for posting it!

I think Congress should be more strict as to who and how much food stamps they get. I've known people who have paid for Tatoos work with Food Stamps  :angry7: :BangHead: and having two children one 3yrs old and the other one, one. I don't know if they are getting the same amount of food stamps for small children then for full grown teenagers. small children don't eat much, besides that they get other help WIC, they get cereal, milk, eggs, beans, cheese and more stuff.  :dontknow:

No it is not immoral at all.  I believe there should be a better screening system however.  If you truly can't work or need them then they should be available.  The problem I have is that a large percentage of the people using them either choose not to find work or decide it is a brilliant idea to have more children then they can afford.  To them I say get a damn job and deal with the life decisions you chose for yourself.  I do not want to pay for your mistakes or laziness.

I don't feel they should be cut. Now if a person is abusing the system, then yes those people need to be cut. There are too many people who flat can't work and need the help.

There are people that truly need help, but there are far too many that are relying on handouts when they have the ability to earn a living themselves.

Sooner or later things are most likely going to come crashing down, unless we SIGNIFICANTLY change the way we do things in this country.

It may already be too late.  For many, especially those that abuse the system, likely there is going to be a rude awakening.  It could be sooner than we think.

I think if our country would stop giving these programs to people who are not Americans there would be more money for poor Americans. I for one am sick and tried of taking care of everything broke that gets off a plane or runs across a boarder. Other countries do not allow people who do not have money to set up in their country. Why should I whose people have been in this country and whose family has served this country and defended it have to pay for them. When a family can no longer afford expenses they are cut. Only what is essential remains. It's not fair and if Americans keep tolerating it it's going to keep happening. We've been cutting back on aid for Americans. Cut that off and they will stop coming here. All they are doing is using us. :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: I'm sick of it. If you are drowning you can't help anyone.

I think it's bad yes, but it's a bit more complicated than what people think....plus, there's always stories about food stamp recipients/lottery winners who are on food stamps/collecting welfare benefits....that's just as immoral
