THE IRONIES OF LIFE
When in was a kid ... the grown up always tell me oh you shouldn't do that you'ren too old to do that... you shouldact as a grown up.... but when i grew up and i started saying ohhh i'm so old.. i'm not getting any younger... i don't want to participate in those kind of activities... what am i highschool? then someone in the room would say... oh honey you're not old you're still young...
weird right? share me about the ironies in your life ::)

The first entry from Merriam-Webster sounds really familar:

"1-a pretense of ignorance and of willingness to learn from another assumed in order to make the other's false conceptions conspicuous by adroit questioning —called also Socratic irony"

You may have been considered precocious, depending on how young you were when you knew what you know now.  Sometimes that can be good and other times, not so good.
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.
