Actually Admin may have added it that links are removed in signatures now - due to people not following the rules. So the referral link may be stripped out automatically - I will confirm and let you know.

Any confirmation yet, Kohler?

I just went to change the color of my banner, just for a cosmetic change, and lo and behold can no longer have my FC referral link attached.  No trickery, no scamming, just copy/pasting the code for the blue banner with the link from the promotional section supplied to us on our account page.  A forum search to see what was going on lead me to this thread.

If this truly is now the case, I think it's very sad.  I understand the old adage of "a few bad apples ruin it for everyone" typically applies here, but sometimes bad apples should only ruin it for themselves.  I think this forum is self-policed very well, and people who aren't doing what they are supposed to be doing are generally reported and dealt with.  It's a shame that people who have been here for years, who follow the rules and support FC, are the ones who ultimately get hurt by other's bad behavior (typically people who just joined and don't read the rules, or joined just to spam).

Is this a huge deal?  No, not really.  But as you have said yourself, Kohler, guests peruse the forum who aren't signed up.  They may have come here by way of doing a search on a search engine for a topic, which then listed in the search results a post here in the forum discussing that topic.  They click the search result, come here to read the post, and find out about FC for the first time.  They see the banners with people having hundreds or thousands in earnings, click it, and ultimately sign up.

I can attest having the link in the banner can get you the occasional referral.  I've actually gotten two over the last couple years, and I know it is from this method, as I don't promote or link anywhere else.

There's no winners in this new policy if it's permanent.  Members who drive guests to their posts from search engine searches can no longer snag a potential referral from writing quality content in the forum which may have lead them here.  FusionCash loses because they had a chance to pick up new members, who otherwise may not have taken the time, or cared, to scroll around and get to the links to the sign-up page.  If you see a banner with hundreds or thousands of dollars in earnings, and can click on it, you probably will to find out more.  I know I would.

Just for curiosity's sake, a quick check on the CashCrate forums shows they allow CashCrate referral links in their earnings banner in their signatures.  I am in no way suggesting they have a better policy, but rather just wanted to see what they do as I know they are a comparable competitor.

I hope this can be re-considered.

This topic actually has turned out to be pretty interesting.  It'll be interesting to see what Kohler finds out about the link issue.  I haven't created a banner but was thinking it was about time...
