Largo couple jailed after a fight with bananas

They weren't exactly using lethal weapons, but a food fight between a boyfriend and girlfriend landed them both in jail early Wednesday, authorities say. According to Largo police, Keane E. Langel and his girlfriend, Brenda M. Riley, were arguing at their home at 301 N Belcher Road, No. 901, just after midnight when Langel started spitting bananas on Riley and throwing doughnuts at her. Riley, 49, then "armed herself with a banana," ripped the fruit into two pieces and jammed them into Langel's ears, an arrest report shows. No injuries were reported, but both were charged with domestic battery. Langel, 59, also was charged with tampering with a victim because, Largo police said, e took Riley's cell phone from her and broke it as she was trying to call authorities. Riley was ultimately able to call police, arrest reports show. Riley was released on her own recognizance Wednesday afternoon. At 4 p.m., Langel was still being held in the Pinellas County Jail.

Food for thought; when things reach a point that couples can't stomach anymore.

One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

Those are valid charges. If you put your hands or any other thng on anyone against their will it is a crime. And the crime gets more and more serious if the object is capable of causing death or great bodily injury, or if marks or wounds are created in the course of the altercation. We cannot go around creating disturbances, and causing fear or grief to each other by getting physical without risk of being charged wih a crime. :sad1:

Anyone who can beat another person seriously enough with a banana to cause "great bodily harm" has got skills.

Family food fight leads to teen's assault Mar. 27, 2012 11:48 AM
Associated Press
.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- A family food fight turned into domestic abuse arrest for a 15-year-old Sioux Falls boy.

KSFY-TV reports that the boy and his sister were arguing when they arrived at their Sioux Falls home around 6 p.m. Monday. The argument escalated into a food fight, and the mother called police.

The boy then reportedly grabbed a BB gun and pointed it toward the mother.

There were no BB's in the gun, but the woman said she did not know that at the time. The mother said she felt the blast of air from the air rifle.

The boy has been arrested for domestic aggravated assault and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.

Wendys Drive-Thru Food Fight Ends in Customer Arrests
 Happened: In The News

Burgers, french fries, and even punches were thrown at a Wendy's fast food restaurant drive-thru window--in a fight involving customers and employees of Wendy's in Kalamazoo, MI, two people were arrested.

Kalamazoo police said that four customers were waiting in a vehicle at a Wendy's drive-thru window, telling Wendy's employees that their fast food order was incorrect. Police said hurled sodas, hamburgers and french fries were thrown at a Wendy's employee who was inside--hit by the food.

The assaulted Wendy's drive-thru window employee then returned the food assault, police say, now throwing food at the vehicle, hitting the vehicle with a drink, ketchup and french fries.
Two people who had been in the vehicle, when the food fight first occurred, then went inside the fast food chain location, where a physical fight with Wendy's employees began onsite--and even chairs being thrown.

Two of the customers were subsequently arrested by police, on assault charges made by police. The original Wendy's employee involved had minor scrapes and abrasions but no need for emergency medical treatment.

Kalamazoo police said Wendy's restaurant employees blamed the physical and food fights on a "communication breakdown."

With stories like this, sometime words simply fail.   :dontknow:

I guess some people didn't learn to leave it in the school cafeteria when they grew up (...or maybe that's the problem ...   ;) )

Aside: SherylsShado - that cat picture above just about made me spew.  That's the funniest cat picture I've seen in a while - thanks for posting it!

I know it's not nice to find the humor in other's "misfortunes" but most of the stories above ...well, I thought everyone could use a good laugh.  It's a funny thing though because our newspaper has a story about a couples' food-fight just about every week where the police are called.  I don't know if they are lacking for real news or what the deal is!!  You're so welcome, glad you liked the cat picture!!    ;D
