I have never given blood. And I honestly don't think I want to. I am not afraid of needles, it's just that I am diabetic and I don't know if that would affect anything.

I've done plasma before but I haven't done a blood drive donation.  Certainly I've had plenty of tests done.  I'm O neg so the blood bank would love to have me.  But like the first person said, my viens aren't great at giving.  Medical history has put me thru some rough times in the hospital and most of my veins dislike the needle size needing to donate.  :(

I have, alot in the past.  I have A/B+ so they really don't need a lot of that because only A/B+ people can take it...yet they can get from all other blood types.  So, I don't go out of my way to give any more.

I would like to, but have been advised not to unless it's an emergency situation.  I used to do clinical trials where I'd have to provide small vials of blood, and would pass out - then my arm would be paralyzed for about 1 - 2 weeks.  Same thing happens when I get shots.  (Got a penicillin shot once and couldn't walk for almost 3 weeks.)  Was diagnosed with something called Sympathetic Nerve Syndrome (I never heard of it...), which is apparently some kind of body defense mechanism that causes the body/limb to shut down in certain cases of perceived invasion (like a needle being injected).  The nurse told me if I donated blood, the after effects would be magnified (not sure by how much).

It totally sucks.  The behavior started manifesting when I was a teenager.  Prior to that I'd always feel very nauseous for days after a shot.

But if someone was in an immediate life-or-death situation, I would risk/endure the after effects.

I have once or twice, but I prefer to give plasma because you can do it twice a week and get paid cash for it. :)

You can find me hanging out on Google :)
