what does everyone think about daycares? do you have any kids in daycare? what are some of the things you have seen on the news? i want to work full time but i have seen too many things on the news and heard many things to even think about putting my daughter in daycare. my baby is more important than some extra cash.
You're right, you DEFINITELY need to spend time with your daughter. But, for argumentative purposes, and because I'm annoying, let's look at the other side here. I know a lot about the daycare process, due to the fact that my mother has been a daycare provider since I was a little kid. And I think that while some of the stuff in news scares you, really, it makes you get TOTALLY the wrong view. Sure, stuff happens, but really, it depends on good choice. As in leaving your kid with an inexperienced teenager/vs a daycare veteran. EVERYONE needs to consider that stuff. I'm not saying that that's necessarily what happened there, but I know, as well as everyone else, what the news is best at doing is blowing stuff out of proportion. And that scares us. Also, while it may be that stuff really does happen, day cares are actually quite safe. For example, for the whole time my mother has done daycare, it has been licensed by the State of Kansas health department. And of course, you all have probably seen movies with the "evil health inspector". Let me say, it's TRUE, people. At least here. To be licensed, a daycare has to be randomly inspected every so often and without warning. And these people are not even afraid to outright LIE to make sure a home is totally safe. She almost had her license revoked 'cause the paper towel holder "was empty" (the inspector mistook the toilet plunger for a paper towel holder) and washing her hands with those wet wipes (which the inspector also got wrong just because they happened to be by the sink). But I'm going on and on and on. But, and sorry for this, just by your few-sentence comment, I'm kind of appalled that people even SEE day cares that way, or that people bother generalizing all of them like that. Come on, there's actually a DEGREE for doing stuff like that, so do you really think that the professionals WOULDN'T know what they were doing? I mean, if there's one thing I know, if you go to school for something, and for a long time, you really need to be dedicated to it. But judging by what you said, your only experience on the matter is through TV, correct? With that in mind, and getting down to the point (finally), let me say, and correct me otherwise, that you are wrong. Not in the way you think, but rather by the fact that you titled the thread wrong. I would bet half my cashouts that the stuff you've seen is about BABYSITTERS, because I've seen stuff like that. But they're two really different things. And while I watch no end of stereotyping crap about daycares, the only things I ever see are about BABYSITTERS, the type that come over to people's houses and shake babies and stuff while the parents are out. Nothing really happens in daycares, they are for the most part CONTROLLED environments, with the daycare's ability to know his/her own house combined with that.
That being said, the only thing I really am asking anyone like you to do is rethink their views on daycares in general. Because there is almost nothing that ticks me off more than having honest, reliable, hardworking people like my mother stereotyped because a few morons left their kids with unqualified, incapable idiots who go out and then proceed to make ALL people like that look bad.
That's MY view on the matter, anyway. I hope to get a response out of this, so I know what people think of what I have to say.
