Oh how I remember those days....my son and daughter both had adhd and still do but however, they are old enough to control it on their own now....believe me I remember going through so many medicines with my son, that I asked the doctor why so many and how come you keep changing it, and the doctor replied that his body build and immunity agaist the medicines so fast and that was why they quit working any where after two weeks or a month....now I finally started talking to other parents, because I was getting really disgusted by this and so I took some of their suggestions and this is what I used to treat their adhd: Synaptol - however it does caost around $30.00 a month it comes in capsules or liquid....believe it or not, it made a difference and did work and continued to work on both my son and daughter for years, it is a all natural remedy herb....just thought I would let you know what worked for my children....have a great day....Blessings.

What meds have they tried? My son has ADHD and OCD we've only had to try 2 different meds. The first time they gave him Concerta. He took it for about a week and we took him off of it because it while it help the ADHD it intensified the OCD. He was having panic attacks thinking he'd get kicked out of school if he's letters weren't written perfectly or if he got one question wrong. He's on Vyvanse now. He's been taking it for almost 3 years and it works great for him. I mean sure he still has his days where he's bouncing off the walls but for the most part he's more calm and focused. He's had straight A's for the last 3 years, perfect attendance and A's in conduct. He also has behavioral therapy about once or twice a month that helps teach him social coping skills.

There are studies that have proven that all children with ADD and ADHD need is exposure to nature. If you let your child play outside and walk through the woods it helps them concentrate without having to medicate them.

It seems to me all I see anymore is every other person having a child with ADD/ADHD.  That seems questionable to me and I wonder, if such is the case, how could medication be considered when there seems to be something else going on.  I don't mean this in any negative way it is simply something that has been bothering me terribly as I realize that nearly every person I can think of is on medication for something or other and my natural conclusion is that the diagnosis/treatments are suspect if not dubious.  If the conditions are as prevalent as they seem to appear to be then there would have to be an environmental cause (genetic doesn't seem to fit) or the conditions are entirely natural traits magnified by modern habits/inactivity which make them appear to be an abnormal condition.  Maybe I am just rambling but it seems as if something isn't right or other than it appears.
There are only 10 types of people in the world:  those who understand binary, and those who don't.

My son plays outside all the time, he still needs his medicine. Changing diet and exposure to nature, burning off excess energy may help some and for kids with mild cases it may be enough. Some however will still need to be medicated. It's like telling a diabetic to just not eat sugar and they'll be fine. Sure some may be able to control it with diet alone but others will still have to take insulin.

I have changed his diet. He was on concert that has been changed a million time and now he is on vyvanse which seem to make him very mood and make the odd worse. He doesnt sleep and is up all night. we have tried 5 meds foe sleep and none work. i feel like it is a hopeless situation. I just dont know what to try next. It is a hard situation. I want him better but I dont want to keep messing with his body either.

ADHD=  Someone else deal with my curious, inquisitive child. Make him be quiet and sit still like an adult.
