recycling helps the earth
« on: March 10, 2012, 07:24:17 am »
I recently was looking for a high quality cutting board, not wooden or plastic. I found one made entirely from recycled materials.
How brilliant. I look forward to using it.

Most products are partially made from recycled materials. It's always nice to find things that are made from completely recycled materials.  :)

Our family has twice as much recycling to be picked up than garbage/
It just makes me frustrated when others don't do their part.  A little effort from everyone to break down cardboard boxes, rinse out cans/glass, and recycle papers can go such a long ways.  I encourage everyone to do their part to help protect our earth! :peace:

We just switched to a company that rewards us for how many pounds we are able to recycle and I find myself digging through our trash to remove paper and plastic for the recycle bin...my family can be so lazy sometimes.  I keep the aluminum for myself and take it to a salvage area which, with other scrap metal, yields a couple of extra dollars per month.  I have an iphone and one of the apps is alluminate which allows you to set monetary goals with can collection...it is really cool and some of the success stories are really motivating.  I have always been an aluminum can scavenger.

I think recycled products are good!  That being said be careful, not all recycled products are equal.  I suggest you verify the % of consumed materials, some recycled products have not made it to store shelves yet and are classified the same way as a piece of cardboard that has been through the whole cycle.  Dont forget to be objective! things aren't always as they seem  :)

I have always recycled the majority of my trash by rinsing cans and glass containers and breaking down cardboard boxes.  Not only is helping the environment but I have saved so much money on garbage bags!

I'm glad that this topic was brought up.  We may not be able to change the world - but we CAN make a difference!

We don't have a lot of recycling places around here but we do take cans in and also copper and scrape metal when we can. I wished they had more around here.

I live in an area were they have very little in the way of recylcing, I use the card board boxes and newpaper in the garden, we eat mostly fresh veg. so no cans.

At long last there is a recycling drop off that is close to my house. It is amazing just how much of what you would put in the trash can be recycled. The trash I put out for waste management has been reduced by 70%. I'm officially a "tree hugger" now..and proud of it! ;D

We recently moved, and found that our new city doesn't recycle as much as our old one.  Very sad about that.
