What is your favorite Charity to donate to and why?

I have a friend with CF so I usually support her walk each year. Depending on funds I try to donate to our local Relay for Life and Humane Society.

I am not that far out of college and haven't yet got my life together at all financially.  I am having a hard enough time supporting myself, much less being able to give to a charity.

I completely understand! I have always tried to give at least $10 even in my roughest of times because in all honesty I know that I am much better off than a great percentage of our world and thankful that I don't have any ailments. I'm sure when you are financially steady you will help how you can.

If I had to pick a "charity" to donate to, it would be a church. Unlike general charities churches cover more than one area. They help everyone in need, and use the money for good causes such as food, clothing, and missions.

There are several charities I'm fortunate enough to be able to donate to.  A couple of my favorites are:

Leader Dogs for the Blind - a small organization that organizes volunteers to foster potential puppies for a year, then the organization trains them for assisting the Blind, and other people who need Dog Assistance.  Then when the dogs are trained, they pair them with the person and train them together so they work as a team.  I like the care and hands on this organization does.  They also find homes for the retired dogs - when they are no longer capable of assisting the person due to age.

Heifer International - this charity allows you to "buy" animals which are given to people struggling in villages all over the world.  They take time to teach the recipients how to care for the animal (and plants - like trees now), make sure it stays healthy, and teach them how to use it for their own benefit and profit (selling eggs, processing wool).  Then if their animal has offspring, the recipient "Pays It Forward" by giving the offspring to another family in the village.  The goal over time is to allow not only the individual family, but the whole village to become sustainable.

When I am able to donate I usually give to our local Apage Ministries.  It is operated by local churches and will help anyone in need in the community.  They also have a used store that they sell donated items and operate a food pantry.  We able they will help with medicines, clothing, electric, heat, etc.  I also give to the local humane society or shelter.

I prefer to donate items to the humane society, food banks, and goodwill. The best way to make a change for the better is to start close to home.

World Wildlife Fund because I doubt people are going to stop growing, stop progress or stop taking over everything. Someone has to help out the wildlife and environment or there will be nothing left for us to enjoy.

I support any charity, as long as it's for a good cause. If I can afford to I will donate.

I have been very short of funds, barely making ends meet, but when I could I would give it to St. Jude's Hospital, as soon as I am able to spare anything I will be given them some money again, I think it is so good that they help children with cancer for free.
