big scare
« on: February 25, 2012, 06:01:27 pm »
This morning 2 pitbulls hit my picture window trying to get our dog. Scared us big time. Hubby went out and they were long gone. So glad they didn't break my window.

Wow!!  I'm glad no one was hurt.  That sounds like a new discussion about the pros and cons of having pit bulls as pets.

In the entertainment section of our $.15  "Paid to Click" activity today, I read that Jennifer Anniston just adopted a part pit-bull puppy from a shelter.  My mother had one for fifteen years when she was young.  If it got loose from its chain, it would go find another dog to fight.  But he loved my mom and she loved him, and as long as he was kept up, she had no problem with him.  They surely do have a bad reputation.  I'm glad there was a window between the two dogs!

I've never met a pit bull up close.....any dog's bark has always kept me 500 yards back XD

I think the main problem with pit bulls is that you can never predict when they might turn on someone - strangers or owners.

I have a Jack Russell Terrier that thinks he is a pit bull.

Wouldn't it be nice if owners actually took responsibility for their dogs?

I had a pit for years, and trained several others. Nothing wrong with them. They're easy to train, easy to socialize, and snuggly as all heck. Any dog will do things it isn't usually inclined to do when it's lost in the neighborhood. :(

There are a lot of pits and half pits on the beach and they do not hurt people. Now some of them do like to bark growl or play with other dogs.

One was stolen and the owner is really sad. hes checked everywhere.

I do not think I would adopt a pit just to be for sure all would be ok.

:( I have to admit I would never own a pit bull or pit bull mix.  In our area there have been a lot of pit bull attacks of children and adults and I'm sorry but I don't trust the breed.  Now I am not prejudiced against just pit bulls there are other breeds who have tendencies to be aggressive but it seems like the pit  bulls are a problematic breed.  I only like small dogs but even they can be a problem (my granny lol had a little taco bell dog that would gnaw off your ankles if she didn't put him away when someone visited) so I guess each to their own. :peace:

A lot of people are misinformed on pitbulls usually they are trained to be violent or are abused so they snap. I could rant all day about pits bulls. I don't like dogs but I really have a fancy for them they are easy to train and really smart good family pets. They have a bad reputation but are way different then people really think.

pit bulls are like doberman pinchers.  They can be sweet as hell really good protective dogs, and good with family, but if something pisses them off, they can break character and go for the throat of their threat, even if the perceived threat is a smaller non'threatening creature...poodle, child, etc.
