Mardi Gras

They had people marching downtown today dressed all funny and pushing carts, most were shopping carts, and many of them were wasted. Been drinking aparently all night. I asked one of them what is the occassion, and they said Mardi Gras man.

I thought well Fat Tuesday was what oh yeah Tuesday. Hell, I should of started, they were having so much fun they made it all the way to Saturday and did not even realize it.

I live in Denver and we have never celebrated Mardi Gras ever. I am going to New Orleans next week, but that is already after Mardi Gras is over.

I have been to Mardis Gras six different times and the insanity seems to last longer and long with each new visit!  I think that any trip to New Orleans is crazy enough but Mardis Gras takes things to a new level.  I have also taken part in the VooDoo festival that takes place in fall and it is an absolute blast.  I want to take my wife to Jazz fest which is supposed to be a wonderful time...not quite as seedy. I am with you though...Fat Tuesday comemmorates the end of a wild time as you head into a commitment of purification (Ash Wednesday) for forty days until Easter Sunday.  Pushing the sinning ways past Fat Tuesday is something that I would refrain from.

I usually try to catch the Fat Tuesday live cams but forgot this year. If you catch them you will usually see some interesting people and scenes.
