How about hiring some full time Mods?
« on: February 10, 2012, 02:30:57 pm »
Honestly, this place is like the wild west.I understand that FC doesn't want to police every conversation, but I for one,am tired of the insults and name-calling that goes on unchecked on a daily basis.I think it's time FC inforce the "be kind to others" rules a bit more strongly.

Idk i think this place is very friendly so far, every1 making useless posts to get their monthly $3 bonus.

But trust me i have seen worst places and forums than this one.

Oh,I'm sure there are worse places, but all I'm asking is for there to be someone who can keep the insults and arguements from getting out of hand.Issue a warning here and there. That kind of thing. It seems a basic practice on most forums.

We have a "less is more" moderation philosophy.  We presume that our members are adults, and understand that people tend to say things online that they would never say in person.  With that said, I have witnessed (and removed) comments that cross the line.

There is definitely a little more leeway granted to posts in the D&D forum -- topics tend to be hot-button issues with a fair amount of emotion attached. Personally, I avoid those kinds of topics (and it's easy since they're mostly in that subforum).

All of that said, your best bet to get a post reviewed by an administrator is the "Report Post" function.  We do check and respond to those requests frequently.

Umm, I never actually considered a report post. I just tolerated or turned a blind eye toward the level of abuse,
with an expectation that it would be noticed by those overseeing the forum.

there are always people who will use the forum to vent...but when it becomes rude and nasty, i think the owners of this site should remove it immediatly

I figure it's a community service.  If those kinds of people are busy posting nasty comments on the forums, then they are too busy to tote a loaded gun into the nearest Waffle House.

Honestly, I've never noticed any nasty comments directed at a member here, except for those people who are angry at FC itself and post nasty comments about it.  When that occurs I've noticed many members jump to FC's defense - albeit politely, for the most part.  So, most definitely Admin. is doing the job and removing those posts that go overboard against a member.

I really do not have any problems here.  Everyone seems to police themselves well.  Other than some minor profanity (which I use on occassion), horrible grammer using, and awfull spelling, this forum's fine by me.

Admin- thanks for the information.Sometimes though as we saw in the discussion about posting in the correct forum header, a little more hands on sooner may have prevented some things from getting out of hand that were not necessarily overly offensive but just not good practice or form.
