What's your opinion?  Do you think it's a myth or what?  What's your theory?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illuminati

The Illuminati (plural of Latin illuminatus, "enlightened") is a name given to several groups, both real (historical) and fictitious. Historically the name refers to the Bavarian Illuminati, an Enlightenment-era secret society founded on May 1, 1776. In more modern contexts the name refers to a purported conspiratorial organization which is alleged to mastermind events and control world affairs through governments and corporations to establish a New World Order. In this context the Illuminati are usually represented as a modern version or continuation of the Bavarian Illuminati.

There have been various, (sometimes contradictory), claims that the Knights Templar survive today as a branch of the Illuminati. The Templars are supposedly Illuminati because the Freemasons absorbed and protected those that escaped persecution of the church and France, just as the Freemasons would absorb and protect Weishaupt's Illuminati centuries later. The Knights Templar exist today as a high degree of Freemasonry within the Templar Order.

I think there's more truth than fiction to all the stuff you hear about this group. I don't think there's one particular group. You have so many different groups out there trying to run things behind the scenes like Bohemian Grove, the Bilderburg group and the Council on Foreign Relations which has a lot of crossover members between the groups. I think there is really little that happens in this world that isn't planned out in order to advance the agenda of these groups.

Possibly, (to some extent anyway), however the best laid plans run into the brick wall of human stupidity.

I think secret societies do exist, but I don't think the celebrities are apart of them. Also I'm sure they don't call themselves "illuminati' since everyone (or at least most people) have hard of that term.

I believe they exist. I have looked them up on youtube and have come across this channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/undercoveralien?blend=1&ob=0

He talks about how government is run by the group and how modern events are based/created by them.

There are at least a few celebrities who are Scientologists, (Tom Cruise, Kirstie Alley, Karen Black, Katie Holmes, Lisa Marie & Priscilla Presley, John Travolta and several others).  Nominally a "religion", Scientology's 'inner circle' is considered to be a "secret society" by some.

I am sure there are secret groups of people all over the world, and thus there probably is some sort of Illuminati group. However, I seriously doubt that all of the celebrities rumored to be a part of it actually are. I have heard that Michael Jackson, Lebron, Beyonce and Jay-Z, Katie Perry, Bieber, Black Eyed Peas, and even Taylor Swift were/are members. I don't see how extreme fame suddenly makes you part of the group. Just gets ridiculous after a while.

I think all these celebrity members of the illuminati are just tools of the real power brokers. They're just there to keep people distracted from really at what's going on. Case in point, with everything going on rising gas prices, incoming war with Iran and such, yet all I've heard about is Snooki being pregnant, seriously? Just more distraction.

I'm glad someone told me what this was, however, it's just one more thing for folks to get involved with and if they do not hurt anyone... let them be... :star:

These "money masters" do hurt people though. They manipulate our currency to their benefit and our detriment. The lower level people like celebrities aren't exactly in on the meetings, they just serve a purpose in exchange for fame and fortune. While those of us not in the "club" have to work harder for wages that lose value while prices go up and these people start wars all over the place to satisfy their bloodlust and quest for power. If all they did was get together and play cards, then fine, but they don't.

Here's a good series on "The Money Masters"

That's an excellent perspective on the 'power-elite' and their manipulations.  While it is difficult to obtain verifiable sources, using the 'follow-the-money' method can yield sometimes surprising results.
