While difficult to do, consider examining whether or not you're asking too much of the other person or, not enough of yourself.  Rinse and repeat until the emotions involved seem like they belong to another couple.  Omit self-delusions and become the arrow, not the archer.

Re-evaluate why you are together with that person. Do you have empathy for eachother??? Same Goals, going in the same direction in life? When you fight, is it constant, and do you make up and talk it out, or do you just stay mad all of the time??? If you answered yes to any of these question, welcome to every relationship troubles that everyone has had before.

Well it depends a lot on what issues are the problem. If you just feel like you are becoming distanced then finding time to see each other and doing activities together can help. If you have fights about different issues then talking them out or seeking counseling or a mediator could be an option. If you don't feel attracted to one another maybe taking some time away from each other or seeking professional help if there is an arousal issue. 

Not all problems are solvable but I think many can be worked through as long as both individuals are trying and want to commit to the relationship. Relationships end when one side gives up and decides that single life is easier/funner/necessary/etc..  Relationships are also about compromise if you don't compromise then it will end eventually.

You need to think long and hard what is best for you.  Not what the kids need but what you need.  If you see it as a bad relationship or if you can get counseling to fix it.
