NFL playoffs
« on: January 13, 2012, 09:13:12 am »
So the wildcard round of the playoffs is done, and now we are just days away from round 2, the Divisional round. We go some good games this weekend!

Saturday:

First up we have the New Orleans Saints @ the San Fransico 49ers (Sat 4:30 ET)
This is battle of offense vs defense, with the 49ers having a top 5 defense, and the Saints having a top 5 offense. Who will win this battle? Offense or Defense?

Next up we have the Denver Broncos @ the New England Patriots (Sat 8 ET)
This match up features the much hyped Tim Tebow vs Tom Brady. Will there be another miracle for Tebow or will the Patriots be too much?

Sunday:

First game on sunday is the Houston Texans @ the Baltimore Ravens (Sun 1 ET)
This is going to be like an oldschool football battle, great defense, and strong running. Both teams are top 3 in total Defense, and both have top 5 running backs. So whos D does the better job against the others RB? And which QB will make a difference (Texans rookie QB Yates or Ravens QB Flacco, whos 0-3 in the playoffs) ?

Next up we have the New York Giants @ The Green Bay Packers (Sun 4:30 ET)
This is an interesting match up. The Defending Champion Packers have only lost one game this year, and none of those at home. However the Giants are hot right now and the game these 2 teams played in the regular season ended 38-35 with a last second feild goal by the Packers. Can the Giants do what they almost did earlier in the year and take down the Champs? or will the Packers keep on winning?

MY PICKS:
Broncos over Patriots (upset pick, least likely to happen, but I BELIEVE!)
Saints over 49ers (there offense scores too many points for 49ers to keep up or slow them down enough)
Texans over Ravens (My hometown and favorite team will pull this one out with great Defense! - ya I might be biased on this pick!)
Packers over Giants (Packers are just too poweful on offense, Giants pass rush keeps it close, but they dont get no cigar)

I picked New England in the Contest section but I'll be rooting for Denver all the way    I hope the game turns out to be as exciting as I'm expecting!

Saints vs. 49ers: This looks to be a great game! I don't know who is picked to win, but I'm going for the Saints solely for my playoff fantasy teams' sake. I like both of these teams very much and really hope it's a battle to the end.

Broncos vs. Patriots: I despise Tom Lady's pretty boy persona in football, but I am so sick of hearing about Tebow that I actually want the Patriots to win. Don't get me wrong, I love Tebow's message and am glad for his success, but the media is so over-doing it for me.

Texans vs. Ravens: I am stoked for this battle of defenses! I am completely torn in this game, though. I love the Ravens hard-core style and and Ray Rice, but I am from Texas and always go for the Texas teams. I think the Ravens will win, but I am rooting for the Texans on this one.

Giants vs. Packers: I wouldn't mind seeing an upset in this one, but I really think the Packers will pull it off, even if it is a last minute score like the last game. My prediction is the Packers win this one and take the NFC, but lose the Superbowl.

I'm rooting for the Broncos (I am from Colorado). My dad is from Madison, so rooting for Green Bay in that match up.

I'm going Broncos over Patriots (I don't have any faith in the Patriots secondary, but I'll proabaly be proved wrong in this one.)

Saints over 49ers (49ers will have their day,but not this time)

Ravens over the Texans (I haven't been very impressed with the Ravens this year, and the Texans have "team of destiny" written all over them, but I don't see them beating Baltimore in their own house.)

Packers over the Giants (Nuff said)

Google JediJohnnie and May the Force be with you!

Nooooo way the Broncos win.  No chance.  Easy win for the Pats.

I'll take the packers fairly easy.

I am very interested in seeing how the Ravens and Saints games turn out.  I'll take those two teams over their opponents.

well, everyone said that about the Broncos vs Steelers (including "experts"), that the Broncos had no chance and easy win for the Steelers.. they were all wrong..

And if you watched the first game between the Broncos and Pats in the reg season, Denver was controlling that game in the begining, 3 fumbles is what killed them, if they dont fumble those 3 *bleep*, then who knows? Anything is possible in the playoffs! (BTW Im rooting for Broncos cuz there my #2 team in the NFL since I lived in Denver for a year and have family that lives there, Texans are my #1 and hometeam so that one I will be rooting even harder!!)

no I didnt notice, but there are far less domes then not.. I belive there are 5 teams that play in a dome and 4 or 5 more that have a retractable roof
the other 20+ are all outdoors (with the retractable roof being both indoor and outdoor).

- actually I just looked it up -the Saints, Falcons, Vikings, Lions, and Rams are the only teams that play in a dome; while the Texans, Cowboys, Cardinals, and Colts are the only teams that play in a retractable roof. The other 23 NFL teams play in an outdoor stadium.
This years superbowl will be in Indy, I wonder if the roof will be opened or closed?  ;)
