Egg substitute - like egg beaters - are an excellent source of protein.
Proten is the perfect diet food - as long as it is low fat. Your body does not store protein.

i wouldn't call this stuff diet food, exactly, but much healthier
for you:

vegetables! they have tons of fiber, which make you "GO",
which makes you hold onto a lot less than you normally would.
i used to hate veggies, but i've learned to cook them up tasty!
grilled broccoli cooked with a bit of olive oil, throw in some
almond halves or crunch up fat free croutons and sprinkle
over top...  corn on the cob is one of my fave veggies that
goes good as a side to LOTS of stuff!

carrots or celery with homemade ranch (take 1 packet of dry ranch
dressing mix and stir into a tub of fat free sour cream - DELICIOUS!
better than actual ranch dressing, somehow).

i also switched from ground chuck/beef to ground turkey
along time ago. i can't tell much of a difference anymore.
compared to regular ground meat, turkey has barely any
fat. i make burgers, tacos, lasagna... everything out of it
and it's so much healthier. get some taco seasoning and
mix it up before you cook with it. gives it the beefy flavor.

water. i have my own theory that water helps break down
food and helps you digest it better, so i usually always drink
a big glass while i'm cooking and then WITH dinner itself...

one trick that i've been trying out lately is to chew some
strong peppermint or spearmint gum right after dinner.
the taste will stay in your mouth and you won't want to
snack later on because everything will taste like it  ;)

[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

I agree mostly with Dr Oz.  He has a lot of good ideas.  Beans are great protein and fiber.  Lentils cook up quick.  Whole wheat pasta makes you fuller that the regular kind.  Eat a colorful diet with few if any white food.

Watch out for low fat anything because they usually add sugar or something else to make it tasty.   :P

Avoid artificial sweeteners, they are sweeter than sugar and trick your brain into wanting more sweets.   :P

Stick with good old home-cooked, natural foods.

Popcorn is a great snack with lots of fiber and three cups is equal to only seven potato chips.

Check out http://www.happyherbivore.com ! I LOVE her recipes, and so do the non-vegan members of the household. Lindsay offers in addition to her awesome cookbooks and recipes on the site, a free weekly newsletter with additional recipes and a weekly meal plan that you can make a donation to receive. Hope that helps a bit!  :)

Eat more fruit. It digests quickly in your stomach.

I never liked fruit much, I always but it and most of it usually goes bad.  I know alot of people do "juice-fasts" and I've tried them but always end up feeling "drained".  The past few weeks I've been replacing breakfast & lunch with a single (2-serving size) of Monster (with the fruit juice).  My favorite a.m. one is the M-80 (yellow can), or the KHAOS (orange can).  Sometimes if I don't have to work in the evening, I'll replace dinner with a partial can of MIXXD (purple can) or if I have to work then I love the Java or Expresso Monsters.  You get the juice without the energy-drain and they also seem to diminish one's appetite.  There's a 3-can daily limit warning on the can and they contain caffeine.  As with most everything else, moderation is key.  It's the first diet tip I've found that keep my energy up.

I have found that you just eat regular food that you can lose weight.  When I say regular food,  I mean cut ouf all the sugars.  No Sweets at all.  No butter, fat, etc.  And set one free day where can eat whatever you want, but don't go overboard.  This way it gives you something to look forward to.  I lost 60# doing this over 10 years ago.  The weight stays off if you lose it gradually.

I have to find tomato substitutes myself.I have a tomato allergy and can't have anything with tomatoes. So that leaves me with spaghetti and pizza substitutes and something for ketchup.I love tomatoes, too.

Using low fat turkey meat in things is good but you have to cook it a certain way to get that texture you want from beef.

Fruit, vegetables, nuts, eat foods that a cave man could have ate. Try to cut refined sugars totally. If I cheat i do it with a frozen diet meal.
