Need suggestions for keeping warm.

My heat has now quit for the third time in 2 days. Fortunately its' in the 40's vs 12 which it was earlier this week when it quit the 1st time!
Any suggestions on keeping till they come to fix my heat?

I would  get something called underarmor ( not sure if spelled it correctly).   Hunters use it keep warm and dry in the woods.  It is insulated underwear but 100% better

OMG that's horrible! What kind of heater do you have? We had an old gas heater which just finally died and needed to be replaced. I'm glad it's not below freezing right now for you but what a drag!

It's very cold where we live and gas is expensive here so I tend to keep the thermostat on the low side as is. In the winter I do a lot of layers, with thermal tops and bottoms. Also I have flannel lined jeans which help too.  For the tops, I layer like this: Thermal shirt, wifebeater, turtleneck, polo shirt, sweater. I'm comfortable like that keeping the thermostat low. Actually sometimes that can be too warm, especially when I'm doing housework so I'll take the sweater off.

My husband and kids crack me up complaining it's too cold, but they'll be walking around the house with no socks and short sleeves LOL! I tell them if they layer and are still too cold I'll turn the heat up, but not if they want to walk around in tshirts in the middle of winter

I saw some awesome dish shaped space heaters at Costco the other day that BLAST out heat like I didn't believe until I felt it.

Oddly enough we have had the same problem and are waiting for our heat to be fixed also what we have been doing is (If you have a gas stove) light the oven and open the oven door until it gets warm then shut the oven off but leave the door on the oven open until the remaining heat is expelled good luck and keep warm.

Run around outside for a few minutes. Other than that I would suggest layering several long sleeve shirts/sweaters/jackets.

 :wave:I got a little by 1st having the walls insulated and having the the windows caulked...but personally I would suggest putting on warmer clothing for starters, then downing some hot liquids and plenty of soups,

  That has got to suck, my parents keep the head down really low, so I ALWAYS have a jacket on and a really thick blanket helps when you sleep. Just be glad its 42 instead of 22

I don’t use any heater at all to increase electric cost. Last month of last year I bought myself a cotton winter blanket along with a bed matt which allowed me to stay warm and snuggled in bed. It worked very well for me.

Some of the things that we do is put blankets up to the windows that helps keep what warm air is in there.  Also space heaters will work but one of the things that works good in our house is the fleece blankets they help keep you warm.  Also we are big on the layer look.

The few times my heat has gone out I piled on the blanks, gloves, scarf or hat and a heating pad. Thank goodness for the heating pad. Plus my bed is heated.

Get a space heater.  That is what we did.  Order 3 from Sharper Image that were reg. $90.00 got them for $39.00 each.  Keeps entire room very warm has tempture controls and if it gets tipped shut off automaticly.  You can get very good deals on space heaters but suggest looking for type that says whole room heater.

I say find someone to snuggle with!  LOL  I'm always cold, and my spouse is always warm....so we are a good complement to each other that way!  Space heaters do work well...the Under Armor suggestion is a GREAT one too (I wear it daily on my school bus to stay warm, because the heater doesn't work well in it).  How about an electric blanket?

Good luck getting the heat fixed!!  I know how miserable that can be.

my thought would be to go out as much as possible where to where is heat The mall, public libraries,etc.
