My front door and deck doors are always locked.  The door to my garage is locked if I am in the house.  If I run an errand or are gone for only a few hours, that door is not locked, but I have a garage door opener so it is pretty much locked.  If I am on vacation, that inside door is also locked.  My car has automatic locks when I start to drive.  If I leave my car parked somewhere, it is always locked.  I have not heard of any incidents in my neighborhood, but I don't like taking chances.

It would be nice to leave the glass door on my deck open in the summer, at night, with the screen intact.  The glass door opens into the house, and the deck is on the side of the house, so someone would have to almost climb the deck to see that it was open, but I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing it was open.

We lock the door and never leave the keys in the car. We used to live in a more rural area and left the keys in the car most of the time and the door unlocked. Not at this house tho.

I always lock all of my doors even if it is the middle of the day and I am home. You just can not trust people any more. I think you should just get you a really big ferocious looking guard dog to keep inside your home at night. I saw something on tv the other day where this older white guy broke into this black guys house in the middle of the day with him pressure washing the outside of his house. The home owner caught him, beat the mess out of him while his wife video taped it, and then they held him there until the police arrived. It serves that guy right for being a criminal and a dumb one at that!!lol. :peace:

I almost never lock my doors. If someone wants to get in they will.  My husband, on the other hand, drives me crazy with the door locking. He always locks the doors, day or night it doesnt matter.

I always lock the doors.  If you don't, it makes it a lot easier for criminals to get in.

Well I pretty much live in Mayberry. No one here locks there doors, and just about every car has a set of keys in it. Yes every once in a great while a house may get broken into or a car, but not enough for anyone here to care. I love living in place where you know everyone. I have no desire to live anywhere you have to triple chain the door to feel safe. That's for the birds.

How many of you live in a place you still find it safe to leave your house unlocked and keys in the car????
I do now lock my home door even if I'm at home. To much is happening now. We need to do these thing. Why would we give someone the option to just walk in. reather it's your car or home. Where I live it's not safe now.

Not me, times have changed. I don't think people that live in the south or small towns can do that anymore (I could be wrong).
