I believe some people go to the doctor, ER, clinic, etc, pay their copay if they have one and expect something besides, change your behavior, stay home, gargle with salt and warm water, etc for their time. I also think some providers may be more than willing to provide prescriptions needed or not. Just like there are some providers, you will be hard press to get a prescription out of.
I went to an urgent care facility that my medical group contracts with as I could not wait until the evening to get into the afterhours clinic. I watched people leave with bags of medication and became uneasy and was sure that twlight zone music was playing in the background. For one woman it was her third visit to the facility.... The triage form indicated that the facility did not participate in any prescription drug programs/insurance, if you needed medication you needed to participate in their program. I accepted a shot to deal with the pain, neck brace and x-rays. I declined the MRI and the medications to go.
