Tylenol, Advil or Aleve?
« on: December 31, 2011, 01:29:09 pm »
I originally started with Aleve but when the bottles I bought stopped saying it need food, I didn’t take food with it.  Then I ended up getting really sick and had to go to the doctor.  He said that unless you take Aleve with food you can get sick.  Now that’s something they don’t say in the advertisements.  So he suggested Tylenol.  I’ve been taking that ever since.

None of the above. Not a single one of them does me any good. If I had to choose one of them, I would choose Advil. I've heard bad stuff about acetaminophen (even lawsuits, ex. Tylenol) and also bad stuff about naproxen (ex. Aleve). As well as aspirin. I have enough problems as it is health wise, so I don't add to it by taking acetaminophen/naproxen/aspirin. I don't recall hearing anything about ibuprofen, but that doesn't mean there aren't problems with it too. As I said though, they have never helped me in the past so I don't bother with them.

It's always been Advil for me. Aspirin, Aleve or Tylenol just don't work for me at all.

I use all three, (not at once) depending on what I'm taking it for. I find they each work well for certain things, but not others. Tylenol I think is the least effective for me.

I don't take anything unless I'm really in bad shape, then I will take an aspirin or aleve.

I take generic Ibuprofen which is what is in Advil. Tylenol is OK in small doses for a short time only. Alleve has sodium which is bad for me.

I only will take tylenol when needed. My brother got very sick and passed out taking advil, the Dr told him never to take advil and switch to tylenol. advil in times eats away the lining of your stomach says his Dr.

Oh!...I didn't know that! Thanks for sharing. I usually take whatevers available in the medicine cabinet, so next time I'll keep that in mind.
