If you get a mac you will never look back. I have had 3 and never had any viruses and never have had any issues.

3 years and going strong.

Samsung Series 9
It never gets hot, even when you run it for hours.
It has a solid state drive and its battery lasts for up to 9 hours. It has the best quality screen for a solid state drive laptop and is as good as the MacBook Pro.
The keyboard and screen brightens and dims depending on the light in the room. I love the illuminated keyboard when I use it at night.
The keyboard also is easy to type on. When you close the monitor and open it back up, it only takes 3 seconds to reboot all of your information. The speed is amazing. It runs on Windows 7 and has a great webcam for chatting with your friends on gmail, facebook, or skype. It is very light, around 2.88 pounds, and does not break or scratch easily. I held it with one hand and accidentally dropped it from 3 and a half feet and there wasn't a single scratch on it. The frame is made out of a metal that is 2.5 times stronger than aluminum.

I do have Mac and PC. To be honest my Mac is always doing the better job than PC and the bettery is great for hours. My PC gets hot easily but my Mac never gets hot.

I have a Mac laptop (13" screen) and I swear by it! I have PCs all my life and I have absolutely no doubt after 3 years with my Mac that this brand is the better choice. It hasn't backed up or slowed down since the day I got it, so I don't have to worry about constantly scanning my computer or being paranoid that it will crash at any second!

We have a Macbook Pro and a cheapo $200 laptop (can't remember the brand) we picked up last year during Black Friday and three Dell HP desktops. XP and Vista.
I don't use either laptop that much; I'm a lazy user and I prefer big screens when doing most stuff, so desktop is generally where I'm at. Laptops are for lying in bed or the occasional times I'm traveling. Rarely do anything intensive on either one - mainly other family members that use them.

I've rarely had virus or worm or trojan problems with any of my computers, but I use scanners and rarely go on *bleep* sites lol So far, everything has been easily fixed at home by us plus google, even the occasional hardware problem on our one six year+ computer.  :P

The Mac is sleek, but expensive in every area. The charger for the laptop completely died, came apart at the magsafe link. Apparently a common problem for Macs? Which I guess is why they charge $80 for a replacement, and the most expensive PC charger I've had to consider buying was less than $30 (and was necessitated by a dog, not hardware failure).
So that's annoying.
PC things are easier to get by far, but we live 150 miles from the nearest Apple store, so that varies obviously. And internet makes everything closer.
Second downside - having to find Mac specific programs and having to fiddle to death with the external harddrive we have to get it to work with the Mac, rather than just plug and play as it is with the PC stuff.

Can't really say too much about them in comparison to others available. Like I said, I'm still desk bound for my stuff - only owned one laptop before these two.

I have a Dell PC with Windows XP. It's old and we are considering a laptop. I'll take out all my pics and music and let my kids use the PC.

My computer is a Dell Inspiron 6400.  I love my computer.  Dell laptops are the best laptops ever made.

I swore off computers for about two years after I retired. I was in computer over-load.
When I recovered, I got a Toshiba laptop which has served me well and I love it. If I am ever in the market (I'll be 74 this year) for another computer, I'd like to learn more about the Macs as everyone seems to love them.
