This is insane
« on: December 18, 2011, 04:37:05 pm »
We recently moved to an apartment, but the wall is so thin, we can hear almost everything.
Today the neighbor keeps having TV and radio on at the same time and it's just so loud,
this is driving me crazy!!!

Have a talk with them about it.  Or go to see the manager and voice your concerns, nobody should have to put up with that stuff.

I am living in an apartment briefly for the first time in over 40 years. I am out of my home state for 6 months and needed something temporary. What I have learned is this: you can not live this close to your neighbors and not hear their noise. If the noise (like yours) is overwhelming go talk to your neighbor. If they are not open to solving the problem then take it to the manager. I overlook most things and only tackle the big stuff. I find it easier to live in peace. Good luck!

Do like MC did in his avatar, get some earphones and listen to some good music.

Have you thought about asking them to keep the TV and radio down? I don't know if they care or not but, their is a slight chance they don't know. I am deaf in one ear and I talk louder than most people to me it sounds normal voice, but their been times I been reminded to tone it down. Anyways, if they don't listen try talking to the tenant. Lastly, the police as the very last choice.

It is the building! Look for a different unit in your apartment complex. Talk to your manager and explain the problem. If you do not find what you are looking for try to relocate.

have you ever lived in an apartment before?
it took a lot of getting used to when i first moved into
an apartment building. i've lived in a few since then,
but no matter where you go, you'll always hear noise.
some better, some worse. if you just moved in, chances
are you'll soon block it out...

unless the walls really ARE paper thin, in which you will
be driven insane. and i know this because i was
awoken by nick jr. every morning at 5am for about two
years :BangHead: any noise i encountered after that was
a blessing... LOL.

[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

I feel your pain...somewhat; our walls don't have great insulation either.

what show is he watching, and what song is playing?    if your neighbor has a boyfriend or girlfriend, maybe they know the walls are thin , and are playing the music and tv to keep you from hearing other sounds (can you say screamer)

My apartment is like that too. I hear the train go by every morning at 2am and the daycare next door has screaming children that wake me up every morning around 8am. I can also hear everything my upstairs neighbor does.. it is annoying.

If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.
If you are a self important person who thinks that everyone lives for the sole purpose of your comfort and happiness, don't live in an apartment with "thin walls"

I don't live in an apartment, but the houses in our street are seriously close together and we hear EVERYTHING that goes on around us, no matter what time of day! I think I'm getting used to this as it does not bother me as much as it did in the beginning. Talking didn't help, by the way, but those soft foamy earplugs did. Good luck to you.  :-
