Addicted to anything?

I recently read a post on here about what do people think about drug addicts. It just hit so close to home I wanted to start a new topic. I am a recovering drug addict off of pain killers. It is hard daily, I got clean and then relapsed and I am in the middle of    starting all over again. I know what's it like to be addicted to something that you don't want to be addicted too. It's hard. So if anyone out there would like to holler at me please do so. I know what you are going through. There is nothing to think about drug addicts, they are people too and most of them didn't start out just doing it for fun. Many are addicted because there doctors told them it's okay to take all the pain killers they are prescribing them and then one day they take them away and there is no choice they are addicted. So please dont judge, just leave positive feed back. Thank you for reading.

I'm sorry it's so hard for you and I hope you conquer this issue. It's okay to fall, just remember to always get back up. Rome was not built in a day! You must fight! Fight for your right to live an addiction free life and fight because you value yourself. Even if no one has told you this you are precious and you deserve to be happy just as much as anyone else does.  Blessings to you.

I am not addicted to drugs, but my husband was and he have been cleaned for over twenty years and he just ask God to take the taste out of his mouth and he did, because he believed that the Lord could do it and thanks be to
God he did and I thank him everyday.  My advise to you is to believe in yourself and ask the Lord to help and you will be healed.

I'm addicted to nicotine. I smoke at work and dip at home. I really need to quit. I'm killing myself twice as fast.

Thankfully I have never been put in the position of an addiction.  My mom is a smoker and struggles to pay bills and put food on her table, but always has money for cigarettes.  At $6 a pack, that could be a loaf of bread, a jar of peanut butter, a jar of jelly, and some canned soup.  I get very angry when she asks me to help her with her bills (when in fact I am barely making ends meet myself) and she is buying 7 packs of cigarettes a week.  I know it is an addiction, but you have to want to quit it to get the help and get better.

what kind of pain killers do u use?

I think that certain personalities are more prone to addiction than others.  I have a somewhat non-addictive personality...lucky enough to step away from something after trying it no matter how much pleasure it provides.  I do have a hard time stepping away from the Craps tables in Vegas (no place else...not Atlantic City/Indian Reservation Casinos).  Video Games used to present a problem but I have conquered that.  We all have vices...for my father it was eating.  Good luck keeping yourself in check!
