The Post Office

So here in my town they will not accept my debit card because it says SEE I.D. on the back, so it is extremely frustrating as I never carry cash. Does anyone else have issues with their post office? To me it would make more sense to trust a government issued id that matches the name on the card rather than just trusting that the person signing is who they say they are, anyone can take another persons card and forge the signature but again that's just my opinion!

You should pretty much expect any gov't institution to do thing as hard, time consuming and over budget as possible. The current financial woes of the gov't are proof positive.

When I buy stamps, I pay using  a check. It is acceptable. I just write a check, tell my local carrier what I want and she brings it to me the next day. She doesn't ask me for an I.D.

I've never tried using a check and I have now made it a habit of having a check book w/me so maybe I'll try that next time!

i recently moved, but where i used to live, i always get other peoples mail, i think the post office should teach there workers how to read adderess

Does the card come with See ID already printed on it, or did you write it on there? Regulations in some areas do not accept cards that have been altered in any way.It makes sense to me that showing an ID would solve the problem. Some people can be overly strick with rules and policies.

well they are not making the money like they used too-because of people not using paper that much.

my mail carrier bring me stamps to the door< i leave a check in the box.  I use a machine in the post off to mail large packages and never talk to any one just use my debit card on those.

no matter what gov't building i step foot in.

the post office isn't as bad as the DMV, though.
make sure to take every single piece of identification

It’s practical to always carry some cash around for emergencies. Carrying a debit card w/o cash around is just a habit we need to learn to let go. We need to be flexible. I never encounter such problems with the post office or a bank even if they requested to check for ID for security reasons.

but its so DIFFICULT to actually take a moment and ask to actually SEE someone's ID I guess! It IS so frustrating, I agree. Everything works in FAST mode, so if it's something that will slow you down, no one wants to do it I guess!

I don't do much business with the post office since their whole job can be done online in the comfort of my home!

The problem I've had recently are things just not arriving, or arriving very slowly. Even when I pay for priority mail. On super important things, I've been turning to UPS for their 2 day delivery, because I just can't trust the post office any longer.
