How old was your mother when you were born?

My mother was 26 when I was born but she didn't give birth to me.  She had had several miscarriages and my folks decided to adopt.  They managed to have my brother 4 years later and my sister 9 years later but they were both by c-section and she had another miscarriage before my brother was born.  They really wanted kids and they were great parents

My brother-in-law had a neighbor who was a grandmother at 30.  She had her first child at age 15 and then her daughter had a child at 15.

I guess I got you all beat. My Mom was 1 month shy of her 39th birthday. I was a late in life birth and last child but, I guess when I was born in the early 50's I knew some Mom's giving birth well into their 40's. Nine and ten Kids in a family at that, and the funny thing about it, I don't remember seeing a down syndrom child in the bunch. I think it was a much better time!! I don't know if some of the Mom's back then would agree.

Hello fellow scorpion.  My mom was 20 days shy of her 39th birthday when she had me in the late 50's.  I was a change of life baby.  They didn't understand perimenopause then so they thought all the symptoms were separate.  She told quite a horror story about it.  Medicine was different then, too quick to cut things out.

Aside from health concerns, to me 30 isn’t too old for a first time mother although the consensus favor women to bear children at a younger age. I’ve seen some delayed maternity in their mid 30s w/o problems. My mother had me when she was 28 and I was the first born child.
