I grew up around many people and u sayin what I said is ridiculous... Is Rockville lol... Black people are brought up to think most white people want give them a chance and might as well turn to dealing drugs... That said I had many and still do cool black friends growin up... It's a true statement that they grow up... Like you said peer pressure... Thinking they have to be a hard *bleep*... I worked in a factory when I was 18 with three of my best buds and the factory was mostly black and they hated us workin there... But I will say I've hung out mostly with black guys that played college ball at the college I went to and they're as cool as can be... I also used to shoot dice in college with slot of the black guys that sold drugs and were in a gang and they were cool too... I just wouldn't hang out with them or nothin... Not cause they're black bc they're drug dealer but I've never had any problem with blacks as long as you treat them cool they'll treat you cool...

People may talk that there is no racism, but it is and will always be prevalent through out the world in varying degrees. In the US it is present in its mild form, but in England it is highly prevalent.

And on the black/white racism issue, it is much more common now (from my experiences) to see reverse discrimination, especially in the workplace. I HATE that businesses get tax breaks or have certain quotas to fill with their employee race status. If anyone can explain to me how that is fair, please enlighten me. I do not think checking the "white" box on an application should shoot you to the bottom of the applicant pool or knock you out of the running completely. I didn't even realize how much this actually happened until recently when many of my friends graduated from college and could not get jobs because businesses weren't looking to hire white people, especially white males. I am just going to stop now, I could vent about this for ages.

How do you think blacks (and women) felt for centuries?

There has been racism from the beginning of recorded history.  I had hoped to see some improvement in my lifetime, and I think certain changes have been made, but it still exists - all over the world.

I am not denying things like this happened in the past. But it was wrong then and it is wrong now. Race and/or gender should not matter in the workplace, period. I just don't understand how it is fair.

Racism to me is a strange concept since we all have one thing in common. We breathe. If you can make a person who has died come back to life then you have the right to be racist. In 2011 we should know better than this. It's stupid and we are intelligent people. In America racism developed as a manipulative tactic used to justify the fact that a people were raped, murdered, kidnapped, and tormented their culture, language and heritage were stripped from them and they were treated on a daily basis in the most horrible manner known in history for over 430 years. It came about in this country as a way of controlling these displaced people and dehumanizing them to justify the treatment they received.
Did you ever notice that most African-Americans have Irish, English or Scottish last names? Hummmmm...

i believe racism/discrimination is alive an well in America.  I experienced it as an undergrad and a grad student when my classmates and school employees believed that affirmative action got me admitted.  Or the Director of my graduate programming looking shocked that I had a 3.7 grade point average.     I took a class on Women's health issues.   I would like to know why being the only black woman in a class makes you the expert on all things black? And why your proffessor and your classmates get upset with you when you don't live up to their expectations on how or what a black woman should be, believe, act ectera.   I have seen my boss not want to hire someone because the person was too big versus the best candidate for the job.      I have gone into restaurants and the hosts or hostesses look surprise when I ask for a table for two.  However if my husband gets to host stand first and I am bringing up the rear, the host automatically says table for two.     I believe racism/discrimation in whatever form should not be tolerated and should be addressed or neutralized if possible.

There is racism everywhere and its hard because a lot of people are racist and are unaware or they claim to not be. For example it may not be full racism but lets say its night and you are entering a elevator with an african american man you may be more scared then if it were a white man. Or when you see a african american you dont make full eye contact or things like that, you just are different around african americans unconsciously sometimes which is unfortunate.

Racism will always be alive and well as long as people don't have genuine love for each other.

It is human nature, one race will always try to be superior over other/another and one race will always believe their believes, customs and teachings are better than another race.
